Earls Court & Hammersmith Holiday Reviews

Hammersmith, Earls Court & Hammersmith

Handily located for many of London’s top attractions, our hotels near Earls Court are ideal for visiting West London. From the trendy shopping boutiques of Kensington to the exciting events at the Hammersmith Apollo and exhibitions at Earls Court itself, the area has something for everyone. The famous shopping of Oxford Street, the glittering West End theatre scene and London’s vibrant Southbank are all also just a short tube ride away.

Our Earls Court hotels are also superbly positioned when you’re off to see some of London’s best sporting events too; whether it’s the tennis at Queens Club, the horse trials at Olympia or football at Chelsea, Fulham or Queen’s Park Rangers, this is precisely the area you’ll want to be in. Served by four different underground lines, with Hammersmith Tube Station close by you’ll have London at your feet.

  • Reputedly the oldest riverside pub in London, don’t miss heading down to The Dove for a nightcap by the Thames.
  • For a night of stellar entertainment, look no further than the Lyric Theatre – one of London’s best outside the West End – or head to the Hammersmith Apollo for the best in live music and stand-up comedy.
  • Be sure to explore the area surrounding Hammersmith and Earls Court and visit nearby Kensington, Fulham, Shepherd’s Bush and Chiswick.

A super choice for your short break in London, check out our full list of great hotels in Hammersmith below for a getaway to remember.

Take That Concert

Stay Date: 05/05/19, a customer aged 45-64 from Cambridge who stayed at 3* Lord Jim Hotel in Earls Court wrote this review.

Everything was really good hotel and concert. Our only disappointment was how far away from the O2 Arena the hotel was. As I booked as a package it didn’t occur to me that the hotel would be so far See More  Read more information away! On arrival at the hotel we enquired how much a taxi would be and was quoted £70 each way! Obviously we didn’t take that so then had to find out about trains. The hotel was very helpful andprinted us off a route via the underground which was very useful. Not knowing how long this journey would take we had to leave the hotel earlier than we had wanted to. Luckily everything went well withthis form of transport and we arrived at the O2 in plenty of time. We were able to access our suite and could relax and enjoy the show. I’m not sure if when I booked the distance was explained but assaid before was somewhat surprised that the hotel was the distance it was from the venue which did spoil our visit a bit as not regular visitors to London we found the travelling daunting!   Collapse  Hide

Clean, spacious hotel in excellent location

Stay Date: 26/02/15, a customer aged 25-44 who stayed at 3* Kensington Court Hotel in Earls Court wrote this review.

The breakfast was fantastic for a continental breakfast - the friendly staffbrought out fresh tea and toast for us, and there were hot scrambled eggs and sausages available. Overall, a great hotel. Disgusting dump

Stay Date: 14/10/14, a customer aged 25-44 from United Kingdom who stayed at 3* My Place Hotel in Earls Court wrote this review.

My Place Hotel is easily the most disgusting hotel I ever stayed in. I would advise everyone to go elsewhere. It is a perfect example of a dilapidated hotel and failure in management. No maintenance See More  Read more information has been completed for years. The elevator was broken - there was pigeon poo on the walls and carpets where windows had been left open - the carpets were covered in stains from leaks and spillages -the ceilings were stained from water damage through leaky roofs - the baths were leaking so after every shower I had the floor was soaking - the toilets often failed to flush - the bedroom windowswere broken so the traffic noise at night was unbearable - the bedding obviously isn't changed because I found pubic hairs in my bed on arrival - through the night I found several beetles and cockroachesrunning around on the bedroom carpet - the motion sensitive lights in the corridors often failed to come on meaning you were walking in darkness - breakfast was very basic and kitchen staff were veryslow. A really good base for a London weekend

Stay Date: 22/08/14, a customer aged 45-64 from Sheffield who stayed at 3* Holiday Inn Express London Hammersmith in Hammersmith wrote this review.

We recently enjoyed a long weekend at the Holiday Inn Express in Hammersmith. The hotel room was good, modern and clean. We didn't have a lot of space because in addition to our own double bed we See More  Read more information had a double bed settee for our daughter. She liked it very much as there was plenty of room for bears and princesses, and we didn't intend to spend much time in the room anyway. The hotel was areally good base for us, connecting directly with Kings Cross Station on the Piccadilly line, the museums at South Kensington and the District and Circle lines for any number of other attractions.Locally, Hammersmith had some nice places to eat with Tapas and Sushi on offer, and the tube station had interesting items we could pick up for lunch and take with us on our various outings. Our 7 year olddaughter managed the five minute walk between the tube and the hotel easily enough and looked like a seasoned commuter by the time we left. Under a warning sign I would just mention that we bookedto see a matinee showing of Matilda, which was a great show, but I've still not recovered from spending £318 on four tickets. It's been a while since I've seen a West End show and at those prices itmay be a while before I see the next one..   Collapse  Hide

Two day Theatre Break

Stay Date: 18/02/14, a customer aged 45-64 from Chester who stayed at 3* My Place Hotel in Earls Court wrote this review.

Disappointed in Hotel - beds tiny (in length and I'm on 5' 4"!), couldn't close bedroom window. Room. bathroom and hotel in general could be given a good dose of TLC. If this was done the total See More  Read more information package we got would seem good value for money. Twelve Angry Men at the Garrick Theatre was excellent. Forgot it was half term so we didn't pre-book tickets for the Wildlife photography exhibitionwhich was showing at the National History Museum which we wanted to see. When we got there (10.30am) the queue was so long that we knew we wouldn't gain access for at least 2 hours. So we changed ourplans.   Collapse  Hide

Great Show

Stay Date: 09/11/13, a customer aged 65+ from Attleborough who stayed at 3* My Place Hotel in Earls Court wrote this review.

We began our evening by eating at Le Deuxieme restaurant. We both had very good meals and excellent service, but somewhat spoiled by a non-discretionary service charge of 15% being added to our See More  Read more information bill. We went to see "War Horse" at the London New Theatre. It was a fantastic show, the best I've ever seen. Our hotel, "My Place" in Earl's Court" was poor, and we would certainly not stay thereagain. A cooked breakfast had to be ordered the night before, this I did at reception as instructed, but no breakfast the following morning. In all, the hotel was shabby and tired.   Collapse  Hide

Summer Break in London

Stay Date: 05/08/13, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 3* My Place Hotel in Earls Court wrote this review.

The hotel was a little disappointing as the decor was rather sad & needed a good re decoration. There was a ceiling leak in the landing of our floor & the lovely garden was not as good as the See More  Read more information brochure suggested as it needed a good tidy up. The room was comfortable & the beds were just right although with only a thin white blind at the window we were awake with the daylight pouring in; so earlyrising for us both! There was complementary tea/coffee in the lounge area until 10pm so no kettle etc in our room which was a shame for a night cap! The staff were friendly & efficient & did make uswelcome. We have done London breaks for many years now & the lesson we have learned is always allow a lot of time to travel on the underground as you could miss a valuable train journey when returninghome which makes life rather stressful! The special offer of a free river cruise was a marvellous highlight to our visit; would return to do the whole trip...perfect weather & most enjoyable! Hoping tovisit again in September & November!   Collapse  Hide

Stayed at the novotel in hammersmith, stayed here last july, loved it that we decided to stay here again, staff helpfull, friendly. Breakfast brilliant, great variety. Location brilliant right near See More  Read more information bus station and tube station. Also shopping centre within tube and bus station. Also more shops just over road in big shopping centre. Room clean everyday, quiet to say that work men outside on thedual carriage way, (good sound proof windows). Visited westminsterabbey, st pauls, churchill cabinet rooms, shakespheres globe theatre. Churchill cabinet rooms brilliant, very educational about the war and full of interesting information regarding what happenedunderground in these rooms during the war, brilliant interactive device, kids loved it they had to show me how to work it like an ipad. Enjoyed the tour of shakespheres theatre, found the tour veryinformative, next time we may see a show here. St Pauls brilliant, such history, didnt manage to climb to the very top, spiral stair case, ok if you dont suffer from vertigo. Well worth climbing to thewhispering gallery and the next level, brilliant sites overlooking London. We used the interactive ear device, these were like an ipad, gave up after a short while, much prefer the interactive devices inwestminster abbey much easier to use.   Collapse  Hide

Burn The Floor In London

Stay Date: 14/08/10, a customer who stayed at 4* Novotel London West in Hammersmith wrote this review.

The Novotel London West in Hammersmith was just perfect. The staff were very polite and attentive. A great room for three, seperate beds, rare in our experience! A call from reception ten minutes See More  Read more information after checking in to check all was ok with the room. Secure parking at £1 per hour is a bargain in London. It was easy to get to the theatre on the piccadilly line. Hammersmith station is 5 minutes walkfrom the hotel. The area felt safe and was well lit. We left the tube at holburn and again walked 5 minutes to the theatre. We ate in Da Mario's around the corner from the Shaftesbury Theatre. Greatservice and delicious food at a reasonable price. Best to book though, we were lucky but many were turned away at the door.   Collapse  Hide

The room is of good size and clean, the only problem was we could'nt sleep well because it was too hot atnight, it felt like there was'nt any air conditioning at all so, we had to open the window. Overall, it will be a very good hotel to stay next time especially if it takes notice of clientsconstructive remarks.   Collapse  Hide

Short Break in London

Stay Date: 06/03/09, a customer who stayed at 4* Novotel London West in Hammersmith wrote this review.

Living in a Rural area, getting up to experience London with children is a must for us. We'd like to do it more often and take advantage of some of the show and location offers. Our family room was See More  Read more information fine. Children's pull out beds much better than some other 'arrangements' we've come across at other hotels in the past. Breakfast first day was busy and there were not enough staff I guess to keepthe serving area supplied so we had a lot of waiting for food to arrive. Much better the next day. Food was good both days and the children liked the waffles on Sunday. Staff were always helpful. Onereal plus for us was that our train back was not until early afternoon so we asked if we could leave luggage somewhere safe while we went into Hammersmith Sunday morning. Staff did not hesitate toarrange for us to keep our room - and leave our bags - until 12.30 which made a huge difference to us - Very helpful and accomodating - Thanks !   Collapse  Hide

A Great London Break

Stay Date: 28/03/08, a customer who stayed at 4* Novotel London West in Hammersmith wrote this review.

The hotel was really excellent; whilst at first glance it seemed a long way out of town and dingy looking on the outside it was great. The fact that the hotel wasn't in central London meant that it See More  Read more information was quiet and peaceful with no noise from outside in the rooms at all. The rooms were a good size and very comfortable. We stayed (two adults and two kids) in one room with the children aged 8 and 11sharing a comfortable sofa bed. Most importantly the hotel was situated a few minutes walk from the Piccadilly Line (Hammersmith). The breakfast in the hotel was absolutely fantastic! We boughtvisitor Oyster Cards from Superbreak when we booked our hotel and this proved a great move; they are incredibly convenient and great value - really help to keep the costs down as they automatically chargeyou the best price for your day's travel. Our proximity to Hammersmith tube station meant that South Kensington was a short distance away. We did the Science Museum and the Nat Hist on consecutivedays; the IMAX at the Science Museum as a highlight for at least 3 of us. We did a lot of walking during the weekend: St Paul's, Millennium Bridge; Tate Modern; Embankment and jumped on buses when wewere tired (the Oyster Cards made this easy). We can thoroughly recommend the Four Seasons on Gerrard Street to eat but recommend you get there early as the queues start soon after six. Any of thePorchetta chain would also be an excellent place to go for high value low cost Italian. We've used Superbreak a couple of times to book this kind of weekend and both times the hotels have beenexcellent.   Collapse  Hide

Great Trip to London

Stay Date: 15/02/08, a customer who stayed at 4* Novotel London West in Hammersmith wrote this review.

Great Weekend in London

Stay Date: 01/02/08, a customer who stayed at 4* Novotel London West in Hammersmith wrote this review.

A hectic but extremely enjoyable weekend. I never thought we'd pack so much in, and with 2 kids in tow too. From the London Eye on Friday, to the Thames Boat Ride, Tutankhamun Exhibition and Tower See More  Read more information of London all on Saturday it was non-stop all the way. Thank goodness we all had a nice, comfy hotel room to fall back into in the evening, complete with delicious room service when we were too wornout to go out!! The only down side, the hotel accepted dogs as guests, something we weren't aware of until the room 'guests' across the corridor started barking at 8pm at night and went on until pastMidnight. The hotel staff tried to help but couldn't find the owners or open the room, they were extremely apologetic but it is something that would make us think twice about using the same hotel again. All in all though, a great break made all the smoother by having everything booked in advance through Superbreak. Thanks !!   Collapse  Hide

Novotel London West

Stay Date: 04/12/07, a customer who stayed at 4* Novotel London West in Hammersmith wrote this review.

Overall I was very satisfied with the hotel it was clean and modern. On the minus side I telephoned beforehand and asked for a late check out room and informed that this would be available. When I See More  Read more information checked in I was told that it would not be available but that my request would be noted. Tutankhamun in London

Stay Date: 30/11/07, a customer from Avon who stayed at 4* Novotel London West in Hammersmith wrote this review.

We booked our Superbreak holiday when we realised that this was the only way to get Tutankhamun tickets for the weekend we wanted - no more were available to book direct. We chose the Novotel, See More  Read more information Hammersmith as the most reasonably priced of the available hotels, but it was very good value for money and very child friendly for our 7 year old girl and 5 year old boy. The Tutankhamen exhibition wasfascinating, although busy (but it was a Saturday) and the timed entry for tickets controlled the numbers reasonably well. The Science Museum was excellent! The children adored all the interactiveexhibits and spent a fantastic couple of hours experimenting. The Natural History Museum was, as always, a family favourite, with plenty of dinosaur spotting! All in all, a great weekend away!   Collapse  Hide

London Instead of China

Stay Date: 09/11/07, a customer who stayed at 4* Novotel London West in Hammersmith wrote this review.

We decided on a visit to London to see the Terracotta Army (or maybe platoon)as a wedding anniversary celebration. China had been on our holiday list, but we were overtaken by time. Interestingly, See More  Read more information fares to London for two (650 miles each way), 80GBP. Fares in London for three days, 176GBP. Stayed at Novotel London West. Very good, much better than many of the London hotels I have stayed inwithout spending an arm and a leg. And despite knowing that you are paying for it, an inclusive and very good breakfast is an excellent start to a day on holiday. Dinner first night at Smiths ofSmithfield. Not cheap, but as good quality meat as you're likely to get in the south. Wine mark up a little high, even considering their overheads, but on a celebration weekend, you forgive them.   Collapse  Hide
