Dundee & Angus Holiday Reviews

City of Dundee

As Scotland’s fourth largest city, hotels in Dundee make a brilliant choice for taking a short break in Scotland. As well as retaining much of its sea faring and industrial heritage, the city offers a modern city escape with plenty of opportunities for a spot of retail therapy too.

The HMS Unicorn and RRS Discovery also offer visitors a chance to experience two magnificent Scottish maritime attractions on the shores of the River Tay and Dundee’s picturesque Victoria Dock.

The surrounding area of Dundee also provides a fantastic selection of hotels in Angus, complete with breath-taking scenery, tranquil coastal retreats and the chance to see some of the county’s best-loved sights and attractions.

  • Discover an abundance of historic castles, abbeys and religious houses including Glamis Castle, Arbroath Abbey and Brechin Cathedral.
  • A visit to Carnoustie is perfect for golfers and sports enthusiasts alike. A renowned championship golf course, Carnoustie Golf Links is steeped in history, heritage and sporting traditions.
  • Established in the 18th century, the House of Dun is a beautiful Georgian building surrounded by beautiful gardens and woodlands – a truly elegant attraction for a day out in Angus.
  • Step back in time to rural life in Scotland at the Angus Folk Museum. Complete with fascinating objects and charming cottages, you can discover what life in the Angus countryside was like 200 years ago.
Whether you’re looking for hotels near Dundee or hotels in Angus, this stunning and vibrant area offers the perfect combination of city and countryside on a short break in Scotland.

Relaxing Break At Carnoustie

Stay Date: 08/04/07, a customer from Lauder who stayed at 4* Carnoustie Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa in Carnoustie wrote this review.

stayed for two nights in a great room overlooking 1st tee and 18th green at the famous course. twin room was very good.friendly helpful staff. good easy check in. the resturant was extremely busy See More  Read more information on both nights. we ate at eight o'clock. on the first night service was very slow as it was full to overflowing. i remarked to the staff in the morning when booking a time for that evening and theservice was exemplary. well done. we were rather late for breakfast on the second morning and the staff couldn't have been nicer. i was there with my elderly mother access was good. repainting of thehotel was being undertaken during our stay with some limits on access e.g. to the pool but staff were accomodating to allow my mother to swim. nice pool etc. recommended and a very good deal fromsuperbreak   Collapse  Hide

Easter Sunday In St Andrews

Stay Date: 07/04/07, a customer from Greenock who stayed at 4* Carnoustie Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa in Carnoustie wrote this review.

We stayed at the Carnoustie Golf Resort & Spa over the Easter weekend and whilst there isn't a great deal to do in Carnoustie itself, St Andrews is only 25 miles away & is really easy to get to by See More  Read more information car. Once there, we were pleasantly surprised to find that although it was Easter Sunday, all of the shops were open. We had a lovely lunch in a newly refurbished bar on the main road calledGreyfriars. It is really modern & the staff were very friendly & helpful.   Collapse  Hide

October Break

Stay Date: 16/10/06, a customer from Hamilton who stayed at 4* Carnoustie Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa in Carnoustie wrote this review.

We ravelled to Carnoustie via St Andrews. Beautiful town with lots of nice shops to potter in. The town of Carnoustie has a very unattractive entry. The hotel also looks in need of a make-over See More  Read more information including the swimming pool. When I booked I asked about activities available and was told that there were a variety inc. off-road driving, clay pigeon shooting, etc. On arrival, when I asked at the desk,no one was able to help and eventually I was given a number to call of a place on the far side of Dundee. This was very disappointing, and we will not be returning or recommending the hotel to ourrelations /friends Hotel restaurant/bar was excellent, both food & service. Discovery Point in Dundee is well worth a visit   Collapse  Hide
