The High Life in Cheltenham

Stay Date: 24/10/07, a customer from Leeds who stayed at 4* Queens Hotel Cheltenham - MGallery in Cheltenham wrote this review.

My wife and I took a night away in the spa town of Cheltenham to relax (me) and shop (Kari) The Queens proved ideal on both counts. I took up the offer from the hotel to use the spa facilities at See More  Read more information Cheltenham College for girls, whilst Kari launched into the local shops. There is a great selection of boutique stores immediately behind the hotel. When we met back up for afternoon tea there weremany bags to prove that Cheltenham offered more than most of the generic shopping centres across the country. Afternoon Tea was a real treat. Home made scones, clotted cream and jams with lots elsebesides. What a great tradition! To complete our stay we had a delicious breakfast the following morning in the sun-drenched conservatory restaurant. Nice.   Collapse  Hide

Stay Date: 26/08/08, a customer from Cardiff who stayed at 4* DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham (2 Night Offer & 1st Night Dinner) in Cheltenham wrote this review.

The hotel was certainly not up to the standard we expected. We were given a second floor room and the lift mentioned in their room handbook was non-existent. I also had to report to the management See More  Read more information that this same handbook said to "use the lift in case of a fire" (the fire brigade would love that!) Stay Date: 01/05/09, a customer from South Yorkshire who stayed at 4* DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham (2 Night Offer & 1st Night Dinner) in Cheltenham wrote this review.

We have stayed in the hotel before and like it very much the only gripe we had this time was the set menu for dinner which apparently you are expected to eat from if you book the offer of dinner on See More  Read more information the first night. I don't find chicken leg very appetising and cottage pie is 'pub grub' not posh restaurant food. Can you also explain why if the hotel has an offer of evening meal included in theprice why are you then given a set amount to spend eg £20 each. Surely you should be able to spend what you like on your meal. If they must have a set menu at least make it appetising. The hotel is in anice place a nice walk into Cheltenham town centre. Hotel grounds are lovely with pleasant views. Nice pub next door where we had a lovely meal, better than hotel restaurant i'm afraid. Next time wewill stay just bed and breakfast!   Collapse  Hide

Enjoyable Break

Stay Date: 09/05/15, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 4* Hatton Court Hotel in Cheltenham/Gloucester wrote this review.

The staff are lovely and managed to keep smiling even when things were difficult. I have to say the owners of this hotel should be ashamed of themselves when they expect people to stay in some of See More  Read more information the rooms. I have stayed in many hotels all over England and many places abroad and have never complained about the condition of the room but the first room we were given at Hatton Court was disgusting.peeling paint on doors and wall and in the bathroom totally flaking around the ceiling. Bed lamps were dirty and lampshades peeling and the carpet was more threadbare than actual pile. However wewere moved to another room as soon as we complained but surely the owners of the hotel should not allow a room in that condition to be used until renovated. Apart from this everything was lovely, theviews from the restaurant, the food and all the staff but I do get the impression that they are often over-worked and under a large amount of stress but maybe that was just my feeling. I would probablystay there again but the company need to spend money on getting the rooms into tip-top condition.   Collapse  Hide

Good For Centre Of Cheltenham

Stay Date: 11/04/10, a customer from Truro who stayed at 3* Holiday Inn Express Cheltenham Town Centre in Cheltenham wrote this review.

Good location for Cheltenham town centre and right opposite 'The Brewery' which houses cinema and many restaurants several of which give discount to Holiday Inn customers on production of booking in See More  Read more information card. The pick of the bunch for us was Mango - indian/thai buffet meal - great taste, quality & value. Used the bus service twice to Gloucester - no 94 leaves from the promenade in Cheltenham - about10mins walk from hotel. Buses run almost continously from Cheltenham to Gloucester - fare - £5.40p return. Gloucester cathedral is magnificent and the new outlet shopping centre at Gloucester quaysis well worth a visit.   Collapse  Hide

The Big Sleep in Cheltenham

Stay Date: 14/02/15, a customer aged 25-44 from Northwich who stayed at 3* Citrus Hotel Cheltenham by Compass Hospitality in Cheltenham wrote this review.

A quirky, budget hotel in the centre of Cheltenham provided a good base to explore the beautiful town of Cheltenham and beyond. Would happily stay again and will also look out for other hotels in See More  Read more information this chain when booking hotels in other U.K towns/cities. The staff in particular were particularly helpful without being smarmy, which can often be the case.   Collapse  Hide

Probably one of the cleanest hotels I have stayed in, everything felt brand new and all the staff were so happy and friendly and couldn't do enough to help us and make our stay very pleasurable. The Holiday Inn Express in Cheltenham is conveniently located and is an ok base for exploring locally.
