A general "winding down" for both of us after a stressful month or so. A Night at Shrigley Hall

Stay Date: 22/03/14, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 4* Shrigley Hall Hotel (Half Board Offer) in Pott Shrigley (Peak District) wrote this review.

This was a great value for money event and therefore the following must be taken in that context. The food, the service and the facilities were very good indeed - special mention of the the See More  Read more information restaurant staff who were splendid. The only downside really was the state of the rooms which are dated and look uncared for. I would be embarrassed to have a guest at my home have to use a bathroom likethat. The door handle didn't work, the flush was extremely unreliable, the tiles tatty and grubby. Puma Hotels need to put their hands in their pockets and spend a bit of money!   Collapse  Hide

Derby stay

Stay Date: 29/03/17, a customer aged 65+ from Glasgow who stayed at 4* Hallmark Hotel Derby Midland (2 Night Offer/1st Night Dinner & Wine or Afternoon Tea) in Derby wrote this review.

Spent 2 nights at the Hallmark Midland in Derby. Reception was very efficient and friendly and the room was a good standard, comfortable bed, well presented large bathroom and good lighting. The See More  Read more information restaurant service for dinner was very slow and the food was not up to the standard I would expect for a quality hotel. The fish and lamb main courses were OK, but the chicken was very dry; we pointedthis out to the staff but they did not propose any remedy. Breakfast was pretty good with a better than average hot buffet. We had afternoon tea the next day, but again the service was extremely slowtaking over 30 minutes from ordering to serving. Some ledges in the dining room were thick with dust and the staff were very embarrassed when we pointed this out, but it was still there the next morningat breakfast. Overall it is a good place to stay with decent rooms and furnishings and helpful reception staff. A more professional and detailed management of the bar and restaurant would massivelyimprove this hotel and make it a really good hotel.   Collapse  Hide
