Stay at the Russell next time

Stay Date: 14/11/14, a customer aged 65+ from Huddersfield who stayed at 3* Bedford Hotel in Russell Square wrote this review.

The staff were in the main disinterested. The towels were small and paper thin. Both the hot and cold taps at the basin leaked to the point of distraction. The room was noisy from the street traffic See More  Read more information and the bed too short for a tall person. The food was mediocre, synthetic tasting and poor quality. No biscuits in the room at all and the daily allocation of milk carton reduced every day! The hotelwas reasonably conveniently sited and the car parking facility useful. The carpets were very poorly vacuumed with fluff clearly visible within and out with the room. All in all the manager needs toexert himself and metaphorically whip the whole unit into shape.   Collapse  Hide

London trip

Hotel basic but adequate. Some staff didn't understand English in restaurant, had to queue for breakfast. Hotel well situated for West End. Shows excellent - Matilda and Miss Saigon. I have stayed in the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury on more than one occasion and have to say I was disappointed on this occasion. Reception staff whilst checking in where not very welcoming and when our See More  Read more information toilet didn't flush it was as if we were not telling the truth. The corridors were smelly and the room tiny.   Collapse  Hide

Not the best place

Stay Date: 17/04/15, a customer aged 25-44 who stayed at 3* Royal National Hotel in Russell Square wrote this review.

Hotel is nicely located but the rooms are not very spacious. The bathroom is full of mould and the breakfast was like eating cardboard. The coffee was undrinkable and the tea looked like dish water. See More  Read more information The only good thing was the location being central to everything if you like walking.   Collapse  Hide

London break at President

Stay Date: 05/05/15, a customer aged 65+ who stayed at 3* President Hotel in Russell Square wrote this review.

Whilst we enjoyed our stay, the corridor to the bedrooms need a bit of TLC. The staff in the dining room need to be a bit more pleasant, and need to know the correct etiquette on serving, e.g. Not See More  Read more information reaching across people's faces when serving & collecting dishes.   Collapse  Hide

Just OK at the President

Stay Date: 13/05/15, a customer aged 65+ who stayed at 3* President Hotel in Russell Square wrote this review.

Hotel in good location. Reception staff excellent and we were allowed to check in early. Room was just OK. Clean. Bathroom small but clean. Lots of noise from corridor in the morning but realised See More  Read more information this was from staff using store room not other guests. View from window was atrocious but I guess there is nothing the hotel can do about that. While the reception and cafe staff were excellent the samecan not be said about the restaurant staff. Very indifferent during the evening meals. Had to wait and ask several times for service. Begrudgingly given. We only wanted to eat! The breakfast staffwere worse. Coffee and tea are served at the table if you can catch a member of staff....... no cups on table to start and had to get own....not shown where half the breakfast buffet was ... could seewhere the rest was, luckily we went looking..........and when you finally track down someone to bring you coffee/tea he leans across the table to pour......... This would be a good hotel if therestaurant service was sorted out. As it is I won't be back.   Collapse  Hide

I did find the check in process rather poor, staff were rather curt, then they could not find a room for me straight away, even though they did have the confirmation. Breakfast was ok, but the fruit See More  Read more information juice seemed to have been watered down.   Collapse  Hide

Our stay in London Russell Square.

Stay Date: 18/08/15, a customer aged 65+ from United Kingdom who stayed at 3* President Hotel in Russell Square wrote this review.

The hotel was great but we felt that the waiting staff in the breakfast room could do with more training on customer service and a smile would go a long way to making people feel comfortable. The See More  Read more information Reception and Lounge bar staff were very good and helpful. Our room was very clean and tidy but the noise from the boiler housing was a problem and sleep was not easy. The travel arrangements went verysmoothly and the hotel was just a mater of yards from the tube station. The location was good as we could walk or tube to various points of interest.   Collapse  Hide

A couple of days in London

Stay Date: 14/10/15, a customer aged 45-64 from Northampton who stayed at 3* President Hotel in Russell Square wrote this review.

On the plus side our hotel was close to Euston Station (walkable), and local tube and bus services. Oxford Street was also a short walk away. However, the entrance to the hotel was covered in See More  Read more information scaffolding and not very welcoming. Some in depth cleaning would not go amiss (especially in the lifts). The whole hotel looks a little tired and the rooms are somewhat compact and utilitarian. The desk andbar staff were friendly and our room was available on arrival at mid day. The breakfast was OK but no-one smiled and you were often ushered to a table before it had been prepared. We visited theWallace Collection (excellent), The Ritz for dinner (expensive but worth it!), and the show Gypsy (one of the best we've seen in London). The 91 bus proved very useful as it takes you to Aldwych, andalong the Strand to Trafalgar Square. We had a great couple of days but were surprised to have to pay for bags to be stored on the day of departure - it just seemed a little mean? All in all a verypleasant couple of days!   Collapse  Hide
