Short Break in London

Stay Date: 16/03/12, a customer from Uk who stayed at 3* Royal National Hotel in Russell Square wrote this review.

My sister and i booked a one night stay to celebrate her 60th birthday. The journey up was good and we were looking forward to the hotel but were extremely disappointed with our reception! the man See More  Read more information who checked us in was totally dis-interested and really couldn't be bothered. What a poor advert for this country in our olympic year if i was visiting from abroad i would have had a very low opinionand this hotel was full of foreign visitors. We needed directions to the theatre and went to the concierge desk for help... Well that was probably worse than reception, the man was even more "couldn'tbe bothered". The waiting staff at breakfast were a little more accommodating but overall we were very very disappointed they are an extremely poor advert for this country!! would never go there againhave had much better experiences elsewhere.Other than the hotel Superbreak have delivered as usual the show ..We will rock you was absolutely fantastic and brilliant seats.   Collapse  Hide

Royal National Hotel

Great location minutes away from russel square underground..Handy tesco express across from underground. Hotel would benefit from double glazing as there are lots of coach trips coming in at See More  Read more information different times of day and night, but rooms were clean shower worked fine, nothing fancy but fine for a few nights. Russell Square underground is perfect for travelling to other areas but don't use at rushhour, just sit and have a coffee or glass of wine and enjoy when rush dies down jump on a tube.   Collapse  Hide

Hotel Needs Attention

Stay Date: 18/03/12, a customer who stayed at 3* President Hotel in Russell Square wrote this review.

Dingy room, had to open windows in our room to let out the odour of old sweat from the cleaner's clothes, some attention is needed there. Long queue for breakfast. Good breakfast once we got there See More  Read more information though.   Collapse  Hide

A Lovely Trip To London

Stay Date: 24/03/12, a customer who stayed at 4* Holiday Inn London Bloomsbury (2 Night Offer & 1st Night Dinner) in Bloomsbury wrote this review.

The hotel was perfectly placed for getting to and from king's cross station (about a 10 minute walk) and also very close to russell square tube station which made the rest of London very easy to See More  Read more information access. On arriving at the hotel we were greeted by very friendly staff who offered us twin beds instead of the double we had had to book. All members of staff we came across were friendly and welcoming. The hotel room was lovely with plenty of room for all of our things. It was a bit on the warm side on nights and the air con was too loud to leave on when trying to sleep. The bathroom had a bath andshower. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and service on the first morning we were there was particularly efficient. On the second morning (a saturday) service was a bit slower as it was muchbusier. There was a good choice of cereals, breads, fruits and cooked breakfast. Westminster abbey is definately worth taking a look at although it is a little on the pricey side. London zoo wasbrilliant as always and the weather was perfect. We had a lovely meal in bella italia near the queen's theatre. Staff were friendly even though it was extremely busy. We enjoyed spotting some of the eggs inst james's park and around covent garden. If we had more time we would have liked to have done the egg trail a bit more extensively as we thought it was a great idea for tourists!.   Collapse  Hide

Location, Location, Location

Stay Date: 22/03/12, a customer who stayed at 3* President Hotel in Russell Square wrote this review.

We stayed at the president for two nights on a great value Superbreak deal which included english breakfast and a 3-course meal on the first night. It isn't, and doesn't pretend to be, a luxury See More  Read more information hotel but it is superbly placed for leisure visits to London - a minute's walk from russell square tube, on the edge of the leafy square itself, three minutes from the british museum, ten to the theatredistrict, china town and on major city tour and service bus routes. King's cross station is a pleasant 20 minutes walk. The hotel reception, corridors and public areas are rather plain and dark but ourdouble room and bathroom on the third floor were spotlessly clean and had effective secondary double glazing to blot out traffic noise. The towels, however, were small and thin, there were notoiletries other than soap and a hairdryer was only available by paying a £10 deposit. We were hardly in the room other than for sleep, two adults had space to get dressed at the same time - it was basic, like a holiday inn, but perfectly adequate for the price, especially in central London. The breakfast buffet was varied - cereals, porridge, juices, fruit (tinned), the full english essentials (with achoice of fried, poached, hard boiled and scrambled eggs), poached smoked haddock plus plain brown or white rolls and (rather limp) toast. Plenty to fill you up for a day in the capital. Staff wereattentive, clearing used crockery regularly. On the first morning, the tablecloth was soiled and staff did not hesitate to change it when asked. For dinner we were given a voucher which could be used inany of the five hotels in the imperial hotels group. We chose poppadum express in the royal national round the corner on southampton row and were happy with the fresh and tasty asian buffet. Room tip:rooms on guilford street are quieter than those on russell square/southampton row.   Collapse  Hide
