Stayed at the Holiday Inn M6 Jnc 7. Have stayed at this hotel many times because of its location and price for visiting the NEC/Genting Arena. The hotel is good value for money and has great leisure See More  Read more information facilities. The bedrooms are a little on the small side if there are more than 2 of you (e.g. Sharing with kids). The bathrooms are also very small in all the rooms I have stayed in, but rooms arequite reasonably priced. The only downside to this hotel is the restaurant, have noticed that it can be quite cold in the winter and always wear something warm if having an evening meal. Not sure whythis is but every time I visit it's the same which isn't consistent with the rest of the hotel. My other annoyance about this hotel is the food and service and is very hit and miss. 4/6 times I havevisited the problems are in the restaurant. This weekend people hanging around waiting for breakfast items to be replenished. Also the hotel promotes boiled eggs as a healthier breakfast, but don't askfor an egg cup as they don't have any ... eating boiled eggs in a fruit bowl was interesting! Also lots of staff but need to utilise their time better. If you want value for money then this hotel isgreat, but do expect little hiccups especially in the restaurant.   Collapse  Hide

Hmm....

Stay Date: 16/01/16, a customer aged 45-64 from United Kingdom who stayed at 4* Conference Aston Hotel in Birmingham wrote this review.

As regular overnight stayers in the UK, this was a first staying on a University Campus, and sad to say, will be the last... The location was not ideal, some 20 minutes walk from the city centre, See More  Read more information and it's location on campus was not easy to find, parking an issue too, we parked off site at the Thinktank (as it was cheaper!), staff we're wonderful though, room was only adequate, bed very low andkept hitting the side of the wooden frame and the heating on a cold night was only just good enough. The restaurant was sadly closed, menu looked wonderful too, and bar meals uninspiring, we ended upin a Tesco Express full of students getting their dinner! Value for money was good though, but for a city stay my poor feet were not up to the walking!   Collapse  Hide

Worst holiday ever!

The bathroom has just See More  Read more information been updated very well but seem very small. We then had dinner which had bits missing that was advertised on the menu! Before we booked this hotel my intentions was to take my parter to CadburyWorld and have some health treatments at the hotel. Not even a pool table or fruit machine in the bar. We then left to find a local pub. After the pub we headed back and had the most uncomfortable sleep ever! The mattress sunkin the middle and we could only lay one way. I complained and was given an executive room the next morning. Then we had breakfast, which was nice I must say. We then left the hotel to do someshopping and returned back to the hotel 8 hrs later to have tea. We ordered our food. When it came out, bits was missing again and food was warm and not hot! I spoke to the waitresses and they said themenu had changed! So why use old menus?! After dinner I was bored again. Went to bed and was kept up most of the night by the fans on the air conditioning machines and freezer coolers. I seriouslythought I was on a plane! Best part of the holiday was when I left.   Collapse  Hide

Our weekend in Birmingham

Stay Date: 16/01/15, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 4* Hallmark Hotel Birmingham (2 Night Offer/ 1st Night Dinner & Wine or Afternoon Tea) in Birmingham wrote this review.

Unfortunately the appearance from the outside is deceptive as all the windows are badly in need of cleaning which is a shame when you walk through the doors it is a different story. Hotel foyer, See More  Read more information bar and restaurant are modern and well decorated. Reception staff friendly and efficient and importantly very knowledgeable re-local area and attractions including public transport where there is abus stop outside the hotel with frequent services into the centre of Birmingham. Rooms are small, also the walls are paper thin you could hear everything people were saying in the next room andoutside in the corridor when walking past late at night. We go to Birmingham every year to see the strictly dancing live show the NIA has recently been refurbished and it shows it is now sports a modernfeel to it from when you walk up the steps through the foyers. We would definitely recommend anybody going to Birmingham to walk along the canals both relaxing and interesting again clearly a lotof work has gone into creating the right atmosphere and it is very well maintained. Shopping is well catered for both in the bull ring and New street with other areas only a short walk away. Woulddefinitely recommend it as an alternative to London.   Collapse  Hide

The aim of the short break was to visit Cadbury World with my daughter and grandson, a superb attraction, and only a short taxi ride from the hotel. We also visited the Think Tank, the Science See More  Read more information Museum at Millennium Point, a short walk from the hotel. Our hotel, The Britannia Birmingham, was located in the centre of Birmingham, close to the Bull Ring - a shoppers paradise - and a good variety ofrestaurants. Both rail and coach stations were in close proximity to the hotel. Although our triple room was located at the rear, and did not have an impressive view, it was much more quieter thanbeing located at the front, overlooking the shopping precinct. The hotel staff were pleasant and most helpful and told us of other attractions in the city, perhaps for future visits. All in all, a greatbreak which was super!   Collapse  Hide

Theatre break in Birmingham

Stay Date: 10/08/12, a customer aged 65+ who stayed at 4* Hallmark Hotel Birmingham (2 Night Offer/ 1st Night Dinner & Wine or Afternoon Tea) in Birmingham wrote this review.

See More  Read more information None of us had been to Birmingham previously so didn?t know the area at all. Anyhow I saw Superbreak?s offer of a complimentary dinner so took a chance on the Strathallen Hotel, although initially wewere a little put off from the outside, because alteration building work was being done. We were very impressed by the cleanliness, and the very accommodating staff, plus the varied well cooked food...If we visit again we would want to view the rooms as although clean and comfy the outlook was very closed in no view whatsoever, plus we just looked out onto brick walls really. 2 Night Stay In Birmingham

Stay Date: 07/06/12, a customer who stayed at 4* Hallmark Hotel Birmingham (2 Night Offer/ 1st Night Dinner & Wine or Afternoon Tea) in Birmingham wrote this review.

I saw on Superbreak website an offer at the menzies hotel 2 nights inc breakfast and first nights dinner for just over #100 for myself and my partner. It was a bargin! we stayed in scotland 2 days See More  Read more information prior to this and stayed in birmingham as a stop off before we went home. When we checked in at the menzies the reception was lovely very posh looking but the receptionist that met us did not seem sohappy. She was not smiley, helpful or really even bothered we were there. Anyway we got our keycard and parked in the whirly car park to the side of the hotel at a cost of #3.50 per day which i thoughtwas very acceptable. When we arrived to our room i was a little disappointed but my partner was quite happy with what we got. Maybe it was me just having high expectations? it had a good shower nicebathroom, double bed, tv all the essentials. We had a view of a column block. This was the only thing really i was unhappy with but as my partner was happy with everything i accepted it and did notcomplain. It was not until we went down for our first nights dinner that i realised the hotel was empty. There was no-one else in the restaurant. The waiter was lovely and said if we wanted to we couldgo and eat in the bar area where there is a tv and more going on. We decided to do this as it was very quiet in the resaurant they did not even have music playing. Dinner was lovely very wellpresented and tasted delicious, i even had a bit of my partners food and his was nice too. The second day we visited cadbury world which was great and then shopping at the bull ring all in all a great day. Wewent back to the hotel to get changed and went out for dinner at pizza express about 5 mins away from the hotel in car. It was lovely. All i would say is i was disappointed with the room only by theview we had. If the hotel was not busy why not give us a decent room with a nice view? breakfast on the first morning was cooked and sent out to us and was lovely, the second morning it was a buffetas it was busier. Took a while for us to be noticed that we were standing there and when the waitress brought over our tea and coffee basically chucked them on the table. When we went up for the buffetthere was nothing left! a bit of bacon and a bit of egg and they were not filled back up so this was disappointing. All in all a lovely few days away and would definately reccomend this hotel and thedeal. It was well worth it.   Collapse  Hide
