Belgium Holiday Reviews

Manneken Pis, Brussels, Belgium

Belgium is renowned for its luxurious chocolate, unique beer, world-class art and fairytale castles. Enjoy a romantic canal cruise in Bruges or shop in Antwerp's exquisite diamond boutiques. Brussels offers diverse architectural styles and atmospheric nightlife in the stylish Art Nouveau grand cafes.

As well as flights, Belgium is well connected via the Eurostar network with direct trains from London to Brussels. From Brussels you can travel onwards to Bruges, Ghent and Ostend using local rail services. You can also travel to Belgium via P and O ferries with daily sailings from Hull to Zeebrugge.

  • Brussels is Belgium's largest city and also the capital but still retains a small town charm and a cosmopolitan atmosphere thanks to its mix of French and Flemish cultures. Don't miss the world-famous Mannekin Pis, the futuristic Atomium and the Royal Museums of Fine Arts.
  • Bruges also known as "the Venice of the North" is an historic and picturesque town close to the North Sea coast. Famous as a centre for trade and commerce during the Middle Ages, Bruges boasts magnificent medieval buildings such as the Church of our Lady who's tower gives incredible views across the town and beyond.
  • Antwerp is world-renowned for its trade in diamonds. Be sure to visit the Diamond Quarter which is a short walk from the city's main shopping streets. Antwerp is also famous as a centre of the arts with paintings by artists such as Rubens and van Dyck displayed in historic buildings and museums around the city.
Whether you choose to visit Brussels, Bruges or Antwerp or other Belgian towns such as Liege, Namur or Ostend; we're sure you'll love a SuperBreak to Belgium.

Floris Arlequin - dont do it!

Stay Date: 29/08/08, a customer from Edinburgh who stayed at 3* Floris Arlequin in Brussels wrote this review.

I have booked through superbreaks for many hotels, and never been disappointed until my recent visit to the Foris Arlequin in Brussels. The room was dark, smelt musty, and very downtrodden. This was See More  Read more information an executive room.We had steps leading up to a double bed, no handrail. The wardrobe was blocked by the bed downstairs. The room was not pleasant. The bathroom had a towel curtain, not very cleanlooking, as was the shower curtain. When you step outside theres a swingers club, and a table dancing club. At breakfast, no one checked you in. Very busy as 2 hotels use this. The fruit juice was amachine powder, not good. Only hot food was egg and some kind of meatball. Poor selection of cereals 2. Lift was busy and very small. When you walk down the stairs, avoid the paint, dirt and smell. I havenever written a bad report, but dont believe what you read.Spend more money and get a good hotel. It was lovely weather in Brussels , but you would never have known what the weather was like staying inthis hotel, as the room was so dark. The noise at night from the alleys is very clear. Highly disappointing for a superbreak hotel.   Collapse  Hide

Nice Break in Bruges

Stay Date: 17/07/13, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 3* Koffieboontje in Bruges wrote this review.

Had a great weekend, lovely weather, visited lots of good restaurants. The hotel had great location near the main square. 1st room given was a bit grim and we asked to change. Second room better but See More  Read more information not as good as expected for upgraded room. Beds had some sort of plastic sheet over mattress. Bed linen not particularly good quality did not help and the weather of course was very warm. Staffgenerally very helpful. Would recommend Bruges but not Koofebonti as a hotel. Excellent meals at Ribs and Beer, De Vlaamasche Pot and De Stoepa restaurants.   Collapse  Hide

Weekend in Bruges

Stay Date: 13/02/15, a customer aged 25-44 from Uk who stayed at 2* Ibis Bruges Centrum Non Refundable in Bruges wrote this review.

Hotel was poor, it had a smell of drains. Also we requested a double room but upon arrival we were give a twin where the beds kept on parting throughout the night. And there was no room to switch to See More  Read more information another room. Easy to get around on foot. Nice walks and if not for the smell in the hotel and the lack of sleep this would have been the perfect holiday.   Collapse  Hide

Brussels - A Pleasant Surprise

Stay Date: 18/09/15, a customer aged 65+ who stayed at 3* Floris Arlequin in Brussels wrote this review.

Hotel location could not be better right in the middle of restaurants, bars and next to the Grand Place where it all happens! Unfortunately it is very dated and our room, although larger than See More  Read more information average, was so dark owing to the closeness of the building next door. Room and hotel are clean but the street noise at night is considerable and cost us a great deal of sleep. The standard of the roomwas by no means 'Executive' which was what we had booked but nothing stopped us from having a very enjoyable break. The journey by Eurostar was simplicity itself. What an excellent service that is.   Collapse  Hide

Due to an imminent attack on Brussels we felt it was too dangerous to travel to Brussels and change trains to Bruges when it was in lock down. Disappointed

Stay Date: 22/09/17, a customer aged 25-44 from London who stayed at 3* Koffieboontje in Bruges wrote this review.

The hotel was one of the worst we've stayed in. We opted to book a central hotel that was described as three star but on arrival it was actually two star (if even!). The room was tiny, filthy and See More  Read more information the bathroom was terrible. It was by far the worst part of our trip and for that reason I would not use Super Break again.   Collapse  Hide
