Belgium Holiday Reviews

Manneken Pis, Brussels, Belgium

Belgium is renowned for its luxurious chocolate, unique beer, world-class art and fairytale castles. Enjoy a romantic canal cruise in Bruges or shop in Antwerp's exquisite diamond boutiques. Brussels offers diverse architectural styles and atmospheric nightlife in the stylish Art Nouveau grand cafes.

As well as flights, Belgium is well connected via the Eurostar network with direct trains from London to Brussels. From Brussels you can travel onwards to Bruges, Ghent and Ostend using local rail services. You can also travel to Belgium via P and O ferries with daily sailings from Hull to Zeebrugge.

  • Brussels is Belgium's largest city and also the capital but still retains a small town charm and a cosmopolitan atmosphere thanks to its mix of French and Flemish cultures. Don't miss the world-famous Mannekin Pis, the futuristic Atomium and the Royal Museums of Fine Arts.
  • Bruges also known as "the Venice of the North" is an historic and picturesque town close to the North Sea coast. Famous as a centre for trade and commerce during the Middle Ages, Bruges boasts magnificent medieval buildings such as the Church of our Lady who's tower gives incredible views across the town and beyond.
  • Antwerp is world-renowned for its trade in diamonds. Be sure to visit the Diamond Quarter which is a short walk from the city's main shopping streets. Antwerp is also famous as a centre of the arts with paintings by artists such as Rubens and van Dyck displayed in historic buildings and museums around the city.
Whether you choose to visit Brussels, Bruges or Antwerp or other Belgian towns such as Liege, Namur or Ostend; we're sure you'll love a SuperBreak to Belgium.

Overnight in Bruges

Stay Date: 10/04/09, a customer who stayed at 3* Bryghia Hotel in Bruges wrote this review.

Overnight ferry crossing and arrived in Bruges mid morning. A beautiful city. Wonderful architecture. Watch out for the horse drawn carriages and numerous bicycles. Would not bother climbing the See More  Read more information belfry tower again, although the view was amzaing from the top. Badly organised to climb up the narrow staircase as visitors were still descending. Not worth 8 Euros. The boat trip on the canals wasbrilliant as was the sightseeing bus which managed to squeeze through the narrow streets. The hotel was very comfortable and felt luxuriously roomy after a small cabin on the ferry! Our room was available2 hours earlier than expected. The lift in the hotel was an adventure in itself! Wonderfully filling continental breakfast. No problems about leaving our bags there, after we had checked out, whilstwe made the most of our last day. A very pleasant short break.   Collapse  Hide

A Timeless Break

Stay Date: 16/05/09, a customer from Bristol who stayed at 3* Bryghia Hotel in Bruges wrote this review.

We have now visited Bruges 5 times in the last 18 years and it has changed little. It is easy to escape the main tourist area and just wander around the canals. You cannot get lost ! Long Weekend In Ostend

Stay Date: 04/12/09, a customer who stayed at 3* Ostend Hotel in Ostend wrote this review.

We travelled by shuttle to Calais and then drove to Ostend. We stayed at the Hotel Ostend, very close to the front, very helpful and pleasant staff, very comfortable room and good spread for See More  Read more information breakfast. The only down point was that the bar was a smoking area and the atmosphere soon became unpleasant, we asked the staff if we could take our drinks to reception - no problem. A Birthday Weekend In Bruges

Stay Date: 03/09/09, a customer from Staines who stayed at 3* Floris Karos Hotel Bruges in Bruges wrote this review.

The Floris Karos hotel is perfect for short weekend breaks to the beautiful city of Bruges. It is located no more than 10 minutes walk from the historic city centre. Our room was quite large and See More  Read more information spotlessly clean. Perfect for our stay. Breakfast was standard continental europe buffet style - adequate to set yourself up for a day walking around the town. The current euro exchange rate (1.08 euro =£1 sterling) made this an expensive weekend - beer being 5-9 euros for 500ml. However, the strength of belgian beer prevented large volumes consumption so that sort of evened things out!! Walk outbeyond the market square towards minnewater to experience the real spirit of this beautiful city. It's like taking a step back 400 years - beautiful!! Chocolate is sold everywhere - I think I probablyate my own body weight over the 3 days we were there.   Collapse  Hide

Bruges Revisited

Stay Date: 31/08/09, a customer who stayed at 3* Bryghia Hotel in Bruges wrote this review.

Another excellent holiday with Superbreak. The Bryghia hotel is a small, typical family run Belgian hotel. It was ideally located for us - just far enough away from the hustle and bustle but not off See More  Read more information the beaten track and only 10 minutes from the square. Facilities excellent - lovely fresh clean bedding. The staff were very obliging but not very jolly. Other excellent accommodation is Ter Bruggejust round the corner from the Bryghia. I would stay at either of these again. The belfry is a must for the fit and willing. Not only are you rewarded with an excellent view of the square and beyond, but the bells and clock mechanisms are fascinating.   Collapse  Hide

Happy Veggie In Bruges

Stay Date: 26/02/10, a customer from Rochdale who stayed at 4* Hotel Academie in Bruges wrote this review.

Wonderful long weekend with 2 nights in Bruges via Superbreak and p&o ferries from Hull. Whilst in Bruges we took an excellent full day guided tour of the great war battlefields with Nathan of See More  Read more information Flanders Fields tours, who was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Acadamie hotel was very clean and comfortable, handily situated and with a good breakfast included. Only slight fault was the disposableteacups in the bedrooms, but would happily return (with own teacups). Best evening meal was at the Saint Cantrois restaurant which serves for a variety of tastes, including some special veggieoptions. Not particularly expensive and highly recommended.   Collapse  Hide
