Bedford & Milton Keynes Area Holiday Reviews

Knebworth House & Grounds, Knebworth

A great choice when you’re looking for a short break, our Bedford & Milton Keynes hotels are fantastic for exploring the local area, the surrounding countryside and top attractions nearby. With excellent transport links from both the A1 and the M1 respectively, Bedford and Milton Keynes are incredibly easy to get to. Bedford boasts a vibrant city centre and a number of distinctive landmarks well worth a visit – Bedford Castle Mound and St Paul’s Church to name just a couple.

Milton Keynes is a superb choice for a shopping break, with large malls including MK1 and The Centre MK proving amongst the most popular shopping destinations in the region. The town is also home to a burgeoning cultural scene, with lots of venues offering big events; The National Bowl is nearby, the innovative Milton Keynes Theatre is worth seeing, and the MK Gallery often exhibits internationally-renowned works of art.

  • The perfect base when you’re headed to the British Grand Prix circuit at Silverstone, just a couple of miles outside of Milton Keynes.
  • Our hotels in Milton Keynes are also in a great location for visiting nearby Bletchley Park, the stately home famous for being the base of Alan Turing and his team of British code-breakers during World War Two and now home to the National Museum of Computing.
  • Meanwhile, our hotels in Bedford are superbly located for a number of local attractions – the Higgins Art Gallery and Museum is one of the finest in the region, the fascinating John Bunyan Museum and – in summer months – boating on the Great Ouse.

A great choice for your next short break or getaway, check out our list of fantastic Bedford & Milton Keynes hotels below.

Stunning hotel

Stay Date: 29/07/17, a customer aged 45-64 from United Kingdom who stayed at 3* De Vere Theobalds Estate in Cheshunt wrote this review.

From the drive up to the hotel its views are stunning. The Mansion House is spectacular. We were shown 3 different rooms we had the choice of. They were all well decorated, comfortable and See More  Read more information clean. We only have one comment that could be improved. Near the Italian Garden you could see the rubbish bins. They could do with a screen to hide them. The reception staff were very friendly & helpful. Thebreakfast in the morning had plenty of choice. The staff on the breakfast rota could do with being a little happier when serving. We had a great stay slept exceptionally well, we stayed in TheCourtyard. Highly recommend this place.   Collapse  Hide

Horwood House - excellent customer service

Stay Date: 14/08/17, a customer aged 25-44 from Woodhall Spa who stayed at 4* De Vere Horwood Estate (2 Night Offer & 1st Night Dinner) in Milton Keynes wrote this review.

This is a hotel which also provides conference/meeting facilities. Lovely tree lined drive up to the hotel. Excellent staff - all were friendly and provided brilliant customer service. Dinner was See More  Read more information very tasty and well presented. Breakfast was abundant and they catered for a gluten free diet. Lounge area has free tea, coffee and fruit for guests which is very rare these days and made you feel likeyou were getting a treat. Double standard room was adequate although slightly small and the water pressure wasn't great in the bathroom. Changing rooms and swimming pool were nice however, there wasno Jacuzzi which was a little disappointing. We would definitely stay at this hotel again when visiting this area.   Collapse  Hide

Average at best

Stay Date: 13/10/17, a customer aged 25-44 who stayed at 3* De Vere Latimer Estate in Chesham wrote this review.

The good - Breakfast was excellent, the Restaurant was excellent, the staff were friendly and helpful, the manor house and gardens are beautiful. The Bad - Room was not in manor house but in an See More  Read more information adjacent mews (student dorm really small type accommodation), 10 minutes’ walk to the restaurant through poorly signed corridors. Swimming pool was nice, but showers in changing rooms only had reallyhot water so unusable. Lockers would not take the new £1 coin, so unable to secure your stuff. Rooms were small, tired and very much like student dorms ( A far cry to the pictures on the hotelwebsite!). Wine in restaurant is very pricey! The Ugly - Rooms in the Mews had paper thin walls, and could literally hear everything those in adjacent rooms were doing. Rooms were hot and stuffy, with noA/C and even with heating off and window open we were uncomfortable. Room and in particular the bathroom wasn’t clean. Room service didn’t replace tea bags used so had to ask for some at reception. Wewent for a relaxing break but unfortunately we were woken up early each morning of our stay by housekeeping banging trolleys, and talking outside (Is it really necessary to hoover outside guests roomsat 08:30am on a Sunday morning?!). Also the big glass front door to the entrance of the Mews banged closed every time somebody used it and was shaking our room and really noisy (certainly notconducive to a relaxing break).   Collapse  Hide

Our stay in Hemel

Stay Date: 12/05/19, a customer aged 45-64 from Warwickshire who stayed at 4* Aubrey Park Hotel in Hemel Hempstead wrote this review.

The hotel is situated just outside Hemel Hempstead, and whilst it is right next to the M1 this actually becomes secondary to the lush greenery and countryside surrounding the hotel. Check in was See More  Read more information quick and friendly, the room was bigger than Travelodge and most things were working and secure (apart from a wall light which lightly bopped me on the head once as it swung upside down.) Beds were greatand curtains full light exclusion. Buffet breakfast was brilliant, much choice and fresh food. Nice gym, easily accessible, staff all very helpful and polite.   Collapse  Hide
