Bayswater Holiday Reviews

Serpentine Lake, Bayswater

One of central London's most cosmopolitan areas, hotels in Bayswater benefit from fantastic links to the capital's most popular attractions whilst also offering a peaceful urban getaway in their own right. Bayswater sits on the north side of London's magnificent Hyde Park - well worth a visit at any time of year - and is made easy to reach when you're on a rail break to London with both Paddington station nearby.

Famed for its gorgeous Victorian properties, the Bayswater area is home to a diverse population; the area has a big Greek influence, lots of US ex-pats, and is also home to London's biggest Brazilian community. As such, Bayswater's busiest shopping street ? Queensway ? has a fantastic range of international restaurants and ethnic cuisine. Notting Hill to the west of Bayswater is renowned for both its vibrant atmosphere and its world-famous annual carnival.

  • Be sure to visit the traditional Portobello Road Market - just a short trip from Bayswater. The world's largest antiques market has over 1000 stalls and traders courting the business of passers-by, and is a quintessential London experience.
  • Also within walking distance is the staggeringly beautiful Kensington Palace. Home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - and formerly home to Princess Diana - the Palace's gardens are simply not to be missed.
  • Bayswater hotels are also ideally located for a shopping break -the area is just twenty minutes from both the high street heaven of Oxford Street and the trendy boutiques of Kensington.

A superb area to choose on your next short break to central London, be sure to check out our great range of Bayswater hotels below.

Perfect weekend in London

Stay Date: 23/05/19, a customer aged 18-24 from United Kingdom who stayed at 3* Bayswater Inn Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

My partner and I spent the bank holiday weekend in London, arriving on Thursday night at the hotel. After checking the reviews we didn't have high hopes, but it turned out to be very positive and a See More  Read more information very pleasant place to stay. The hotel had been renovated outside and inside recently, so all the lobby, breakfast area and rooms are quite new. Our room was more than enough for us, double bed, wardrobe, desk and a brand new, modern bathroom, with a view to the small park in front of the hotel. The location also couldn't be better, in less than 10 minutes you have 2 metro stops and differentshops and restaurants. We had breakfast at the hotel every morning, and they have a range of products including full English breakfast, cereal, fruit, pastry, toast and other hot and cold options.   Collapse  Hide

Anniversary break in London

Stay Date: 14/03/18, a customer aged 45-64 from Morpeth who stayed at 3* Bayswater Inn Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

We stayed at the Bayswater Inn - the location was great - with a choice of 2 tube stations and bus stops close by. I must add though that our room was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Dining room at breakfast was busy andsometimes not enough seating but the food was plentiful. What we shallremember most was our night out at the Royal Albert Hall - from the dining in the Verdi Italian restaurant to the performance of a Classical Spectacular - a mini Last night of the Proms. What made iteven better was that as we had arrived early a lovely member of staff was able to upgrade our seating so we had an even better view and all round experience. Short break to London

Stay Date: 18/08/17, a customer aged 45-64 from United Kingdom who stayed at 3* Bayswater Inn Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

Short rail inclusive break to the Capital. Bayswater Inn Hotel has a great location for Bayswater and Queensway tube stations and only a 20 min walk from Paddington. 5 minute walk to a selection of See More  Read more information restaurants and a couple of traditional pubs, cocktail bars and bowling alleys! The reception staff at the hotel were dealing with many nationalities with ease. However I felt that they could havebeen more informative about the room facilities such as the safe, air con etc as there was no hotel information pack in the room. We also had to pay £50 deposit which should be refunded in 5 days aftercheck out if nothing is damaged or broken! Very, very disappointed in the size of our 'double' room. With the tea and coffee facilities taking up the entire dressing table, there was no room forANYTHING else. We were climbing over one another to get out of the bed and could not sit in the chair at the dressing table as there was no room between that and the bed! The wardrobe was at the bottomof the bed. The room was claustrophobic and the window opened 2". It took forever to work out the air con and that itself was filthy....full of dirt and dust, surely breeding all sorts of germs. Therest of the room was clean, as was the bathroom, but, yet again, the shower cubicle was tiny (I'm 5,4 and a size 10 and I struggled for room) the shower head not adjustable and just as you thoughtthe water temperature was right, it would scold then cool again. BEWARE ELDERLY OR YOUNG CHILDREN - this is unsafe. The dining area resembled a cafeteria with cheap tables and chairs and it was a freefor all trying to find a clean table. Although, self service buffet style breakfast was sufficient, more staff clearing tables and refilling empty food trays would be beneficial.   Collapse  Hide

The Lion King & Bayswater Inn Hotel

Stay Date: 11/05/17, a customer aged 25-44 who stayed at 3* Bayswater Inn Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

The Lion King was amazing! Waiting so long to get the chance to see it and was so overwhelmed by how wonderful it was. However, we were given the worst seats in the theatre! We booked 6 weeks in See More  Read more information advance (maybe not enough time?!) and we're sat on the very back row, the ceiling was so low in front we couldn't even see the whole stage. Very very disappointing! The hotel was OK... the bathroom hadbeen newly refurbished, however the rest of the room was shocking, marked walls, tiny to the point the floor space wasn't even wide enough to open the smallest of suitcases! What's the point inrefurbishing only part of the room?! Odd! Breakfast was basic but sufficient... I have sat in nicer rooms in hostels however.   Collapse  Hide

Birthday Break for 4

Stay Date: 29/03/17, a customer aged 18-24 who stayed at 3* Queens Park Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

The hotel was nice! As it was the cheapest we could find on SuperBreak, we were a little concerned about what to expect quality wise, however we were pleasantly surprised! The rooms were a little See More  Read more information dated but had all the necessary facilities. Sadly the walls were so thin you could hear EVERYTHING and the noise of other guests did wake us. I also emailed the hotel in advance to ask if there wasanything special they could do for our room as it was my fiance's birthday the day we arrived, only to be told I could have a bottle of wine and some flowers for £40! Which I thought was a little steep! However, despite the included morning breakfast being "pork free" it was actually really nice! We went to see The Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre the night we arrived which was breathtaking! The hotelwas located just a couple of minutes walk from the nearest tube station, which was really useful! Overall a very enjoyable stay!   Collapse  Hide

Poor Hotel spoils a SuperBreak opportunity

Stay Date: 14/02/17, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 3* Bayswater Inn Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

We had booked a SuperBreak stop over in London including a show Kinky Boots at the Adelphi. We were made aware of potential building work going on to renovate the hotel that we had been booked into See More  Read more information but we shocked at the state of the room we ended up with. It certainly was in need of renovation but to actually have it available as a guest room in the condition it was in was disappointing. Wetrusted SuperBreak to vet and ensure proper accommodation was provided particularly since we were travelling down from the North. The actual theatre part of the deal was terrific great seats at a goodprice and an excellent show. Hotel disaster

Stay Date: 26/11/16, a customer aged 45-64 from United Kingdom who stayed at 3* Bayswater Inn Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

Our stay at The Bayswater Inn Hotel spoilt our weekend. The reception area looked lovely, but the minute you step through the door to go toward your room, it's like stepping into a different See More  Read more information era! The room was dirty, hadn't been decorated for years, there was a net curtain at the window that didn't reach the bottom or sides of the window, that was not just dirty, but black, there were no catcheson the rusted windows and the chest of drawers was falling apart! After I complained, we were moved to their sister hotel, which wasn't that much better, (very basic basement room) and it did nothave a restaurant, so we had to be moved back and forth by taxi. We weren't expecting The Ritz, but we certainly hoped to at least be comfortable. Midweek London Break

Stay Date: 05/04/16, a customer aged 45-64 from Carmarthenshire who stayed at 3* Queens Park Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

Myself and partner stayed at the Queens Park Hotel, which is very conveniently located to near both Bayswater and Queensway Underground Stations. Hyde Park is only a very short stroll from the hotel See More  Read more information and Kensington Palace within touching distance. All the main attractions the city has to offer are easily reachable. The hotel is relatively small by London standards, but was very clean throughout. The staff were very helpful and courteous but the breakfast could do with an overhaul. There is no bacon on the menu and serves only beef sausage. The room was spotless and very comfy, overall a verygood value for money break.   Collapse  Hide

A trip to London to see War Horse

Stay Date: 15/02/16, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 3* Bayswater Inn Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

When we arrived at the hotel our two rooms were on different floors, which was not what we were expecting as we were a party of six, split across two rooms. I mentioned this to the receptionist and See More  Read more information asked if they could change this so we could all be together, as requested. We were told that this was not possible, as the hotel was fully booked and we left for our rooms disappointed. When we got tothe first room, it was clearly not ready for us (even though this was 3:45pm) as there was bed linen all over the floor. Eventually this was sorted out and the hotel gave us an alternative room onthe same floor as our other room! Why they couldn't just do this in the first place, when we requested it, I don't know! One thing I will say is, however, the hotel rooms were excellently furnished andtidy. The breakfast arrangements were quite manic. When we got to the dining room there was nowhere to sit as it was so busy. Many of the guests didn't know where to go to get the various componentsof their breakfast and there was no orderly queues anywhere! Breakfast was poor quality ingredients and not replenished often enough. At one point guests were forced to drink hot drinks from glasstumblers and knives and forks were often not available for all to use, due to these items running out. The cooked breakfast was lukewarm. At one point the toaster caught fire and I witnessed a member ofstaff stabbing the stuck piece of bread out of the toaster with a metal serving spoon - very dangerous! It was not a very relaxed affair at all!   Collapse  Hide

Bayswater Inn not up to standard

Stay Date: 17/11/15, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 3* Bayswater Inn Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

Whilst we appreciated that this was a lower priced hotel, but not budget at well over £100 a night, we were very disappointed by the standard in general. The location was good for what we wanted and See More  Read more information that was it's only saving grace. On arrival the staff were friendly and obliging, however there after they were sullen and more than one occasion, frankly rude. The only lift in the hotel didnot stop on the 2nd floor. To gain access to this you either went to the 3rd or 1st and use the stairs, and customers were only informed of this by a badly written note on the lift control panel. Whilstthis didn't affect us, as we were on the 4th floor it would cause issues for some. When the lift did get to the 4th floor however, it stopped 4 to 6 inches short of the actual floor level, apotential H&S issue to say the least. The room we were provided with was, at best described as bijou. There was insufficient space in room to be able to walk around the bed as it was pushed hard to wall toallow enough room to get between the built in wardrobe and the other side of the bed itself. The decor was plain and would have been acceptable if it had been kept clean, the walls were scuffed andbadly marked. The bed, once you were in it, was reasonably comfortable, the air conditioning was a surprise and appreciated and the small shower room / toilet was generally pretty good although the looroll was gossamer thin. As an aside, the tea and coffee making facilities in the room were provided on the cheapest budget possible with a grand allowance of two unbranded coffee sachets (thathad solidified) and two tea bags along with four sugars and UHT milks. Even budget hotels provide better than this. The hotel had no facilities outside of your room and whilst they had not beenadvertised I was surprised to find no bar or coffee facilities available. Bearing in mind the room size and lack of facilities therein we were surprised to find there was no lounge area to sit in, otherthan the reception area, which frankly was more like an airport transit lounge and next to a constantly opening outer door. The breakfast is served as a buffet, which we were aware of, but againeverything on the cheap and no assistance from the staff that stood around having a good laugh at the customers (they seem to have forgotten or didn't care that some of us speak more than one language).Again silly things annoyed, for instance the 2 toasters on site either didn't toast or were like thermo nuclear devices that burnt in a second, cutlery wasn't clean, tables not cleared and once againsomething else on the cheap salt and pepper in sachets. We had two occasions within 24 hours when the room key failed to open the door. On the second occasion we were told, in fact reprimanded "Youmust have done something wrong, I suppose we will have to give you another this time". It's a key, that had been kept clear of phones, oysters etc. what else are you supposed to do with it? Thecombination of the above leads us to question the so called 3* rating shown on the hotels paperwork and furthermore led to us leaving the hotel one night early. It should be noted that on checkout weexplained that we were leaving early and were not asked why and again received what can only be described as a "whatever" attitude. This is not a reflection of SuperBreak in anyway (only of thehotel) as the service we received from SuperBreak with regard to the booking and theatre element of the break was superb.   Collapse  Hide

Hover board please

Stay Date: 10/11/15, a customer aged 45-64 from United Kingdom who stayed at 3* Reem Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

Well what a wonderful time in London, but oh for cushioned shoes or a hover board. The Reem Hotel was well placed for Bayswater underground, so not too much of a walk there. I was very impressed See More  Read more information with the underground, an oyster ticket may have been the better option, instead of the day ticket we bought, also what we didn't know, is that you can use your contact-less bank card to get through thebarriers and that was a lot cheaper for a single fare than buying a ticket. The Tower of London was an amazing day out, I thoroughly recommend eating there also, very clean and good value. I'm not sureif SuperBreak sell the Thames boat rides, or the tour bus tickets, but if they don't I would recommend they do, as Tower plus the Thames as a package would have been great. Would like to say I wasamazed how fast my train tickets arrived, from Taunton to Paddington, only one day after booking online, and the price of train plus hotel was the cheapest anywhere. I am thinking of coming up againsoon and at SuperBreak prices, I will definitely book again. Maybe a London show next time. :)   Collapse  Hide

Stay Date: 22/10/15, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 3* Queens Park Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

We booked a SuperBreak overnight hotel and theatre ticket to see Miss Saigon. Hotel was in Bayswater, near to tube. For the price it was pretty good. When we got to the theatre we were upgraded to See More  Read more information seats in the stalls which were perfect. Great show. My tip would be to get an Oyster Card before you set off as its then much easier getting on and off tubes and buses.   Collapse  Hide

Great Time In london

Stay Date: 02/10/15, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 3* Queens Park Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

We had stayed in this hotel before and it was ok, the staff can be a bit rude but it was in ideal location. However when we got to the hotel to book in a 4.45 (saying that we could book in from 2) See More  Read more information they told us our room wasn't ready and we would have to wait 20 mins which didn't impress me as we was going out to a show and needed to get changed. They had obviously let someone stay later in theirroom and gave ours to someone else also was going to give one without a window which I did not want either. My mum is 67 and we had been on a train for over two hours and needed a rest. Afterinsisting on a room that should of been ready for us they was trying to say it was our fault because we didn't get there till 5 to which we said no the room should have been ready from 2. Eventually we got aroom which I think should have been someone else's too as it was for four and there was three of us.   Collapse  Hide

Seats Double Booked

Stay Date: 27/08/15, a customer aged 25-44 from Hereford who stayed at 3* Bayswater Inn Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

Whilst we had a good stay at the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed the show (The Railway Children), our seats were double booked. Unfortunately we were told that our booking provider had not been recognised in the system. Luckily there were spare seats available and we were given those. I did see the other tickets and I can confirm out tickets were missing the emblem thatthe others had.
