Bayswater Holiday Reviews

Serpentine Lake, Bayswater

One of central London's most cosmopolitan areas, hotels in Bayswater benefit from fantastic links to the capital's most popular attractions whilst also offering a peaceful urban getaway in their own right. Bayswater sits on the north side of London's magnificent Hyde Park - well worth a visit at any time of year - and is made easy to reach when you're on a rail break to London with both Paddington station nearby.

Famed for its gorgeous Victorian properties, the Bayswater area is home to a diverse population; the area has a big Greek influence, lots of US ex-pats, and is also home to London's biggest Brazilian community. As such, Bayswater's busiest shopping street ? Queensway ? has a fantastic range of international restaurants and ethnic cuisine. Notting Hill to the west of Bayswater is renowned for both its vibrant atmosphere and its world-famous annual carnival.

  • Be sure to visit the traditional Portobello Road Market - just a short trip from Bayswater. The world's largest antiques market has over 1000 stalls and traders courting the business of passers-by, and is a quintessential London experience.
  • Also within walking distance is the staggeringly beautiful Kensington Palace. Home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - and formerly home to Princess Diana - the Palace's gardens are simply not to be missed.
  • Bayswater hotels are also ideally located for a shopping break -the area is just twenty minutes from both the high street heaven of Oxford Street and the trendy boutiques of Kensington.

A superb area to choose on your next short break to central London, be sure to check out our great range of Bayswater hotels below.

A Short Trip To London

Stay Date: 07/10/09, a customer who stayed at 3* Queens Park Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

Lovely to get 2 days away in London, mostly walked/bussed around to place taking in the scenery. Enjoyed a trip around the London Eye, amazing views, "cruised" along the Thames. The hotel was basic See More  Read more information but nothing to complain about, clean room, plentiful breakfast, friendly staff. Unfortunately the firealarm went off in the middle of the night for no aparent reason, so a bit of a disturbed night.Hotel is in a great area near Hyde Park, close to Queensway, which is a bustling street full of different eating places, nice ambience and close to 2 underground station for choice. I would definetly gowith Superbreak again.   Collapse  Hide

Apart from a good boat trip on the Thames we spent the time walking around central London. We used the buses which were excellent, the tube is too expensive. See More  Read more information   Collapse  Hide

Hotel And Day Trip

Stay Date: 19/08/09, a customer who stayed at 3* Queens Park Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

The hotel was only a short tube ride from central London, situated behind the busy main street of Bayswater. The street its self was very quiet and the hotel was quite modern and very clean. The See More  Read more information staff, although with limited english in some cases were very helpful and polite. We visited the Imperial War museum which although quite a distance from the hotel was really worth the visit. Veryinteresting and some of the exhibits, especially the holocaust exibition are very humbling and respectfully done. A brillaint day out.   Collapse  Hide

We visit London rarely so tried to make the most of our break. Hotel was good location. We used the Oyster card to get about. Makes life much easier. The hotel entrance is tired and in need of See More  Read more information upgrade but the room was lovely and had been recently refurbished. Friday night was very noisy with a travellers hostel on the opposite side of the road and some very noisy residents in the hotel. Staffare very helpful and pleasant. Covent Garden was wonderful and the Globe tour very interesting. We managed to get tickets for Hamlet also before we left for home.   Collapse  Hide
