Bayswater Holiday Reviews

Serpentine Lake, Bayswater

One of central London's most cosmopolitan areas, hotels in Bayswater benefit from fantastic links to the capital's most popular attractions whilst also offering a peaceful urban getaway in their own right. Bayswater sits on the north side of London's magnificent Hyde Park - well worth a visit at any time of year - and is made easy to reach when you're on a rail break to London with both Paddington station nearby.

Famed for its gorgeous Victorian properties, the Bayswater area is home to a diverse population; the area has a big Greek influence, lots of US ex-pats, and is also home to London's biggest Brazilian community. As such, Bayswater's busiest shopping street ? Queensway ? has a fantastic range of international restaurants and ethnic cuisine. Notting Hill to the west of Bayswater is renowned for both its vibrant atmosphere and its world-famous annual carnival.

  • Be sure to visit the traditional Portobello Road Market - just a short trip from Bayswater. The world's largest antiques market has over 1000 stalls and traders courting the business of passers-by, and is a quintessential London experience.
  • Also within walking distance is the staggeringly beautiful Kensington Palace. Home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - and formerly home to Princess Diana - the Palace's gardens are simply not to be missed.
  • Bayswater hotels are also ideally located for a shopping break -the area is just twenty minutes from both the high street heaven of Oxford Street and the trendy boutiques of Kensington.

A superb area to choose on your next short break to central London, be sure to check out our great range of Bayswater hotels below.

Busy London

Stay Date: 18/12/09, a customer who stayed at 3* Queens Park Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

Hotel room was very small but very clean - 3 light bulbs out of 5 had blown and the sink plunger was missing with the plug stuck in the hole. The light bulbs were replaced 2 hours after reported, See More  Read more information but the sink wasn't fixed. Had to wait 10 minutes for the water in the shower to warm up. Fire alarm sounded twice for a few seconds, once mid-afternoon, and again just after i'd got off to sleep atmidnight, which kept me awake wondering whether there was a fire or whether the sensors would work correctly in the event of a fire. Contrary to previous reviews, the all you can eat style continentalbreakfast was good and filling - I did order 2 eggs (for an extra £1.50).   Collapse  Hide

London Break

Stay Date: 21/11/09, a customer who stayed at 3* Queens Park Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

The hotel street was a little noisy, but hey if we want London tidy they got to empty bins early. The jazz cafe was super. Hamel was on and afterwards 80's night. The food was delicious and the See More  Read more information cocktails sweet. Thoroughly recommend it. The cheapness of the Superbreak allowed us to enjoy culture on a budget.   Collapse  Hide

Short Stay In The Capital

Stay Date: 23/11/09, a customer from York who stayed at 3* Queens Park Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

We had three days and two nights in London with Superbreak. It was a mother/daughter holiday celebrating a birthday. We were a bit limited how far my mother could walk but the buses were excellent See More  Read more information (she had her bus pass). Londoners either seemed very friendly and anxious to help us - or pre-occupied and couldn't be bothered. We met both types at our hotel, the Queen's Park. The rooms were smalland you could hear conversations going on in adjoining rooms. The second world war museum was excellent with lots of information, life size experiences of the blitz and memorabilia which included aphoto of my mum which made her holiday. Mamma mia is one of the best shows I have ever seen.   Collapse  Hide

Short Break In London

Stay Date: 27/10/09, a customer who stayed at 3* Queens Park Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

We had a lovely stay at the Queens Park Hotel, the hotel itself could do with sprucing up inside to look fresher. The rooms were ok, but again, freshning up would be good. The rooms were seen to See More  Read more information every day, with clean towels and the beds were made again. The rooms walls were very thin, and you could hear conversations, and also the squeaky bed above us!! The Kensington Park across Bayswater Rd wasfantastic, and leading onto Hyde Park. You would not think you were in the capital. We found the tube station at Queensway very handy and the tube from Bayswater took us straight back to Paddingtonstation.   Collapse  Hide

Breakfast At Tiffanys

Stay Date: 26/10/09, a customer who stayed at 3* Queens Park Hotel in Bayswater wrote this review.

Had a 4 course pre thetre dinner at an indian in Rupert St, very good value at £18 per person. The show a bit disappointing, was expecting something more like the Audrey Hepburn film. St pancras See More  Read more information station fantastic. The hotel looked very sad, possibly last decorated over 20 years ago, and now in desparate need of a major redecoration programme. However as a total package it was a good valuepackage.   Collapse  Hide
