Long Weekend At Newby Bridge

Stay Date: 09/11/07, a customer from Solihull who stayed at 3* Newby Bridge Hotel & Leisure Centre in Newby Bridge wrote this review.

There's not much to see at Newby Bridge but it's a good place to stay if you travel up from the South with easy access to the Lake District proper. The hotel was nice but the breakfasts left See More  Read more information something to be desired. A big plus is the fair size swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and gym equipment. There is also a friendly bar and a pleasant lounge area. We had excellent evening meals at Salsaand Lucy4, in Keswick and Ambleside respectively, and a nice pub lunch at The King's Arms in Cartmel, which we visited for the world renowned sticky toffee pudding. Grasmere is a must visit for thegingerbread alone. Ambleside and Keswick are both great for outdoors shops, the highlights being Gaynor Sports and George Fisher. The weather was poor but there was still plenty to do. If you do get aclear day there are great views from the top of Wrynose Pass.   Collapse  Hide
