Vienna, the beautiful capital of Austria, is located astride the River Danube inundated with boulevards, fairytale palaces, gardens and churches. With a long history of art and culture, the State Opera House and the Kunsthistorische Museum are amongst Vienna’s must see treasures.

We arrived c. 1200 in the hotel very convenient to the Airport (20' Bus) and the Vienna City Centre (15' walk). It is enough to walk, walk and walk Vienna but a good idea is to use the tram routes 1 or 2 which circles the centre continually - ideal for sightseeing. Good coffee is everywhere and passers by are surprisingly helpful. Less than 24 hours later we were very fulfilled. The hotel was clean , confomfortable, friendly convenient and the breakfast was a grazer's paradise!

The most memorable part of our short break was a visit to the Opera House to see the Barber of Seville. In Vienna you don't have to pay a fortune to see a good opera. 500 tickets are reserved for sale on the day of the opera on a first come first served basis. You have to queue, which is a lot of fun since everyone is friendly and likes to chat. Price for a place EUR 3,50. You start queueing around 4pm and the whole process follows a strict traditional code. The opera was amazing and I recommend it to anyone.
