We visited on the opening day of ‘Hogwarts In The Snow’, which meant parts of the Great Hall were transformed into the Yule Ball and the spectacular enormous Hogwarts model castle was covered in snow. As a self professed Harry Potter boff - I was hugely looking forward to this. The whole experience is thoroughly enthralling! Walking around multiple sets where the level of detail is exceptional, you could easily lose hours pouring over the props and multitude of detail from all aspects of the film making process. Putting the giddy excitement of walking into each new set to one side, (my fav of which was definitely the potion making classroom), I found the insight into the special effects fascinating!! I think everyone knows about green walls these days, but the perspective illusions to make Hagrid look big, how they make snow, footsteps in the snow and the animatronics used were amazing! Considering it was the opening day of ‘Hogwarts In The Snow’ (and sold out), I was expecting it to be rammed, but you can walk through at your own pace and it’s not remotely overcrowded. Even the exhibits you can have a go on (flying broomstick, Hogwarts express etc) all had tiny cues, with waits of mere minutes. Our visit lasted about 3.5 hours but I bet if you took the time to read every single thing you could be there all day!! Onto the negatives - I’ve never been asked to show my ticket so many times at different stages just to get into the building - for one second I though it was some hidden camera wind up!! + don’t use the automated ticket booth outside as the touch screens barely work!! Also whilst I appreciate it’s not a theme park, they could definitely do better with the cafe - why not make it like the three broomsticks? Plus the toilets aren’t even in the cafe - weird!! Let’s be fair, if you’re considering going then you’re clearly a Harry Potter fan (or your kids are!) and as a fan I can 100% recommend this! Plus don’t forget your credit card as you’re bound to spend a few pennies in the gift shop!! Collapse

This experience is worthwhile for anyone, though be careful as it could work out expensive if you have a few children with you! My adult daughter and I loved this tour. We saw all of the background inner workings of the creatures and the spare heads of the creatures. Maybe a little boring for a very small child. We did have our picture taken at one of the photo opportunities, we got to put on robes and paid £14 to be marked as dangerous witches. There were also broomstick rides photos and videos to be taken. I have difficulty walking so I was in a wheelchair for all of this day, as it is big, and it would have been too long stopping at each room, display, bus, or bridge. Yes they were all there, not to mention the train station! I loved all of this. The prices were fine for me in the gift shop, though the wands were a little overpriced. I had no problem there. Everything was disabled friendly. Allow yourself a few hours, as there is so much to see and do, but I don't want to spoil the experience for you of walking through the doors into the main hall for the first time! Collapse
So much fun being a big kid!

Great day out. Went with my parents as my 65 y/o mother was literally begging to go. Tbh I wasn't overly convinced I'd enjoy it but ended up loving every second! Managed to spend 8 hours happily lost in the world of Harry Potter and could quite easily been there for hours longer! Well set out and was surprised at just how much they have. Take an extra camera battery or 2 and a mobile charger for your phone cos if you are anything like me you'll find yourself constantly taking snaps and you'll be gutted if you don't get shots of hogwats before you leave!! Well worth the trip!! Collapse
