I don't normally write reviews but our experience of Thorpe Park was soooo poor I feel that I can't let it pass. A while ago we booked up for a couple of days at Thorpe Park and an overnight stay at a local hotel as we don't live close to the park. After travelling 2.5 hours we arrived (myself, my wife and our 2 sons) at 5 minutes to 10. We had printed tickets off the internet but it was very unclear exactly which one of the many many queues at the gates we should stand in - more clear signage required! We got in and went straight for our first ride, only a 30 minute wait, great we though...next up let's go on Saw was 'broken'. Due to Saw being closed the ride next to it had a wait of over an hour and it wasn't even midday. We went on that and thought it was time for lunch, waiting for our lunch to arrive the power in the restaurant went off so had to wait longer for our food to arrive. Back to the rides, by this point all the big rides had a queue of at least 90 minutes so a couple more rides and that was us done for the day, we got in the car to head to our overnight stay only to be stopped at the gate and asked to pay £6 for the pleasure of leaving the car! What the ...!? Luckily the local pub we booked was really great so that improved everyone's moods. Sunday started as Saturday had ended, got into the park nice and early, went straight for Stealth as we hadn't managed to do it the day before due to the length of the queues, only to be told that it wasn't open yet as they were still doing test runs - now I understand the need for test runs but why on earth if you open at 10 can you not be doing test runs before the park opens! Queues on Sunday morning were not too bad and we managed a few more rides without too much waiting, by 1pm both my sons asked if they could go home as the queues were starting to build and they could not be bothered waiting, for a 16 and 13 year old to 'want' to leave a theme park is a sad state of affairs in my opinion. The only plus side of leaving so early was that they had not starting fleecing people for parking at that point in the day. Another great plus was spending the weekend together as a family, most of the time was spent laughing at how inept and useless the park was. Collapse

Probably because of the very bad date we went this is not going to be accurate. Unfortunately, we chose term break's Monday to go there. In general, we expected queues for all rides but we didn't expect that my friend I went with can't go to any ride because it is really difficult (actually if you don't know what to look for you can't just find it) to know what size people can fit into rides. We didn't know about 51 inches restrictions until we get inside and he couldn't actually fit into any rollercoaster... But, besides that great inconvenience I was quite disappointed with the quality of rides and the worst thing was overall cleanliness of the place. Rides look rather not inviting (maybe beside Swarm) to join in and lots of litter (I know it was very busy time) around the place... Collapse

Good, the mazes were great. Should consider an 18 + day. Would attracted more attention from the elder audience.

We have Merlin annual passes so can use all the parks that Merlin has to offer. Thorpe park has the best thrill rides of any of the parks, lots of rides to chose from, in the summer the beach is great. The downside is if you have young kids there is nothing for them to do here I would say under 1.2M it isn't worth visiting as its very limiting. The Ghost train is an interesting experience, as in the Celebrity Maze if you want a break from coasters. Collapse
