Thorpe Park has some great rides but the queuing means you won't get to see as much you'd like during the day, I visited the park on the Sun Superdays offer, I'm glad I didn't buy full price! We arrived at 10am, parking was easy, security was quick and our tickets got us straight in, I'd recommend arriving for 10am or earlier to get on the 1st ride with minimal queuing, the park is easy to navigate and rides arn't far apart so this is a bonus. Between 10am and 5:15pm we managed to get on 6 of the larger rides with a little break in between and by using 1 fast track ticket, fast track tickets are £8 per ride!! Even though the rides were great it felt like we spent most of our day in queues! Be prepared with water/sun cream/hat etc.. Sometimes the rides would become unavailable and they would stop and run empty test runs, this would seem to happen for most of the rides which would then extend the queuing time, predicted waiting times weren't accurate on screen, sometimes quicker, sometimes a lot longer.... Overall I'd say Thorpe Park is worth visiting if you can get some offer but not on single day full price ticket or even online advance price as it becomes an expensive day out, be prepared to pay extra for fast track and then £6 for parking the car. The parking procedure isn't clearly explained, we breezed though the entrance without a thought about parking costs, I then read in the guide that you needed to pay on the way out, on the way out it looked as if all the kiosks were shut which left us scratching our heads as to where and how we were supposed to pay, the Annual Pass ticket kiosks on the far side are still open so you can buy your parking ticket there, although this isn't explained anywhere on signage outside. There are some good rides here, that's if are lucky to find them open. We decided to buy the fast pass as knew it could be busy after reading reviews and ride count was not bad, but with many stops and closures throughout the day. the ghost broke down on our first time after a 30 minute que. We managed to get on it in a second attempt. Seriously this ride is nothing like the advert absolutely overrated and a huge disappointment and not scary at all. Give me a normal ghost train any day over this. Thorpe park really could do with and update and for a London theme park it looks surprising tatty. Think we will go to alton towers next time instead. We enjoyed ourselves at the park today, but poor management has made this park significantly worse than it was a few years ago. We arrived at 9.45, but didn't manage to pick our tickets up until 10.20 due to the long queues for ticket collection, where only 5 windows were open for all people purchasing tickets and picking up tickets. Totally unacceptable. I'll likely get the 'low season' cut and paste response to this, but the fact is that if you are having to wait more than 30 minutes to get your tickets, the park is understaffed. Once in the park we managed to get onto the ghost train with a very short wait, and then onto Saw relatively quickly too (approx 30 mins). Walking around I noticed that many of the middle sized rides weren't opening until 12.00, again an obvious cost cutting exercise which significantly increased queuing times before 12. By 11am, all the queue times were around 60 minutes, and this got progressively worse through the day. The advertised 25 minutes queue time for Nemisis was actually 70 minutes (surely there must be a simple way of calculating this by counting numbers in and out of the entrances). Part of the problem seemed to be that there were 3 queues - cheap, fast track and get in the back way. We ended up riding only 5 of the big rides, and leaving by 3pm. Crazy considering that we'd done 2 of these in the first 45 minutes. The next 3 took us 4 hours. To actually have a great day out at Thorpe park now, you seemingly to have to spend £80 each on fast track, on top of the ticket price - for me, this out-dated looking theme park just isn't worth that much, especially when they can't bring themselves to spend money on staffing and running rides (yes, even in 'low season')......
