This is the second time in the last year on a hot day that I have been and the beach was closed. They have their website, facebook, twitter, instagram etc to let people know it is closed. And they don't use any of them. Combine that with the fact that no one answers the phone ever, and you have a very second class customer service in operation there. Lots of disappointed customers with small children. Poor effort Merlin. We expect better at the prices you charge. Collapse
Solid day out but there is lots of improvement to do

Came here on 23rd with my dad (I'm 19 he's in 50s) and as a huge theme park enthusiast i wanted to get the coaster creds i haven't got yet. The drive in was a little confusing as there weren't too many signs coming into the park then one of the longest queues of the day was getting through security as there were just one tent open. We headed first for Saw (as recommended on the site) but weren't sure how to get there as the pathway to get there had a sign saying 'colossus entrance' so we thought we couldn't get through to saw (turned out we could) so we went all the way round X to get there. Coaster was quite rough but brilliant layout. Next disappointment was colossus, my dad wasn't able to ride as the restraint belt wasn't long enough to click in which meant he couldn't ride nemesis either (his favourite ride). The rest of the day went well with the longest queue being the Ghost Train as expected. Weren't impressed at all with ghost train as we knew how the effects were done and wasn't scary at all(very predictable scares) however we went into the Angry birds cinema and that was easily the highlight of the day. The usher inside had a great adult sense of humor and the catapult chair idea was good fun (I work at paultons and it beats our cinema by miles) Altogether the day was great though, Swarm now my fave coaster in UK, although the coaster queue lines could've done with an attendant (i understand its an off-peak day but we still had 15-20min queues) There needs to be a lot more signage and big maps around the park because its quite hard to find the entrance to coasters if you haven't been in a while. Also we struggled to find where we get the parking ticket from so we ended up going to the annual pass kiosk to get it. Great day but probably won't be back till something new arrives at the park! Visited here with my girlfriend for a few days away. Weather was great and so where the rides (when they were working). The staff controlling the rides seemed very unprofessional, uninterested and some bad mannered but this may be due to understaffing and poor pay. No rush to get the next ride going and only one carriage available for most rides. Also first day I was their it was 27 degrees and the beach wasn't open the 2nd day it was cloudy and about 20 degrees and was open so in my opinion makes no sense at all. My main complaint about Thorpe Park is I'm certain they have passed my phone number and personal information onto companies. I'm getting two calls atleast per day from numbers down London and it's never happened prior to going here plus I live 250+ miles away from their. Tried to contact them with regards to this and was on hold for 15mins and had to hang up. Overall glad I went and would recommend going but things need to improve massivly to make it a top theme park. Collapse

We travelled 3 hours to visit and took advantage of the hotel - the hotel price was around £60 for the night and included breakfast, and park tickets for us (a couple) for 2 days, which is amazing value considering the usual entry fee. I have reviewed the hotel separately. We usually visit alton towers as we are northern so that's all we have to compare with. In comparison, the queue times are short at thorpe park, we didn't wait longer than 20 minutes and that was for the ghost train. The grounds were not as nice as alton towers and it was more adult rides than alton towers which was not a problem for us. We loved stealth the best, on Monday before the park closed we got to go on the ride 3 times as the last riders! The staff were amazing. We went on all the big rides and enjoyed all, particularly being on the front of nemesis. I really did not like the ghost train I found it terrifying and im an adult! The park was generally clean but the toilets were not amazing. Food provisions are okay and we had good food at the pizza buffet. It is expensive though. We would definitely return if we were close by. Collapse
