I decided to indulge myself and my father on a Vip trip to Man Utd vs Everton. I turn 50 this week and my father turned 76 recently. Yes it's expensive, particularly when you add traveling and hotel costs, but it was a amazing day. No 7 replaces the Europa Lounge at Old Trafford. You enter via the Directors Entrance in the Munich Tunnel. There is a dress code but as long as your not in trainers or wearing a football shirt things are pretty relaxed. You climb up one flight of stairs to a long corrider flanked my match pictures of United players, There are doors to the left that lead to the seating but you are swept along to the Number 7 suite. On entry to the suite it is easy to believe you have been upgraded to a first class flight. You are greeted by ladies who look like flight attendants and led to your table. You have private tables, with a choice of bottles of Champagne waiting to be poured by your waiter. You sit down to your match day program and gift bag to explore. Spend some time taking in the surroundings.......many pictures and art work of No 7's of old. My father quickly found himself talking to the host of the room who in the week is a curator for the Man Utd Museum. They were soon talking about the Busby Babes and we were given an email address and a buissness card to arrange a VIP visit round the museum in the future. He also tipped us off that the former player who was attending today was none other than Bryan Robson " Captain Marvel " a true No 7 legend of the club ! We sipped great Champagne, eyed the menu, ate a few nibbles and were generally a bit stunned by this point. My father chose Salmon to start that was hand prepared at the table by your server while I had a selection of cold meats. Bryan Robson took part in a Q&A and then each table was invited to have pictures and autographs with the former Captain. We occasionally glanced at the tv screens round the room and were pleased to see Chelsea and Arsenal taking points from each other in a 0-0 match. We returned to our table, chose from impressive wine list and waited for the chefs signature steak dish.......wow amazing steak. The three hours prior to kick off were flying by and we declined desert in order to see a bit of the pre game warm up.....it is a very short walk to great padded seats to the left of the half way line in the Bobby Charlton stand. Wayne Rooney was given a warm welcome by the fans despite his current issues off the pitch. It poured with rain at kick off but we were well protected under the stand. We were soon on our feet when Valencia potentially scored the goal of the season with a spectacular volley....... At half time we just had time to grab a coffee before the players were returning to the pitch.... Everton then had some great chances but David de gea kept them at bay, before Wayne Rooney was substituted and United decided to put 3 more goals in to make the final score 4-0 ! Back to our table to find a two course desert waiting for us......one was an extra "Birthday treat. " We had an opportunity for pictures with last year's trophies and through the afternoon we chatted with Lee Martin " showing his FA cup medal to us and had birthday cards signed by Sammy McIlroy. After all this food and wine we couldn't face the cheese board or the post match sandwiches and pies...... All to soon it was time to leave and we stumbled to our nearby hotel. Would I ever be able to justify the expense again......probably not but my father and I definitely had a day we will talk about for years and that is pretty priceless :-) Collapse

The tour of the stadium for my time slot was followed by quite a large group but enough time and space is given to take pictures and to ask some additional information. Tony, the guide, spiced up the facts for more than an hour with a lot of humour. Thanks again, absolutely one morning to remember. Collapse

I went to Old Trafford with my husband on the stadium tour and museum visit. Now I wasn't expecting much but boy was I pleasantly surprised. We were led on the Tour by Tony, who was just brilliant. He was funny and he have us a lot of facts on the history of the stadium. The museum is also quite interesting with the trophy room being a highlight for me. I can see why it is the only.club stadium with 5 Star status. Collapse
