I took my niece and nephew to Cadbury’s world for a half term day out this week. What a waste of money! The experience is really boring for children, not a lot of interaction or involvement for them. Lots of listening and watching films etc. All of the factory bit is sectioned off now so you don’t get to see any of the chocolate being made or packed. You can’t take pushchairs upstairs yet there’s lots of walking and queuing which means you are carrying young children for a long time. We queued 40 minutes for a 3 minute ride and 30 minutes queuing outside in the cold did the 4D cinema. There is no seating anywhere around the tour and not very well geared up for pushchairs. The cafe is not pushchair friendly either. Really expensive and boring day out. Will not be returning. Collapse
Fab day out!

It was a nice day and you do receive some free chocolate along the way which is nice. The shops not really discounted in anyway so don't expect cheap chocolate or anything out of the ordinary in the shop. It gives you a history tour of where chocolate originates from and then a couple of shows which explains in detail how cadburys was formed in the UK. It was interesting and the kids were quiet which meant they were listening. You then have a very long walk to an area where they were performing what looked like magic tricks? (No relevance to chocolate whatsoever??) Then as you come around the corner they want to take your family photo and charge you £10 for it. We then had the cadbury world car tour of what can only be explained as something I saw in Walt Disney world (which isn't surprising as Cadburys is now owned by an American company) and low and behold another photo is taken and that will be... yes another £10 please. Obviously you don't have to buy if you don't want to, so don't be forced into it if you don't want it. We then had to go outside to the play area which I have to say was very nice for the children (Although it was raining, I thought it was a nice touch for those who have brought a picnic as there was seating too.) We queued for the 4D show, which be warned can make you feel a bit sick but are very effective nethertheless. We waited for ages to be put in a lift which stopped working and the lady apologised and said sorry for ruining the whole experience as there lift doors opened (There were two sets of doors) and we left via the other door then realising its a fake lift. Ridiculously time consuming but I imagine its to break up the queues once inside for the seating purposes of the cinema. The restaurant was absolutely naff, cold uninteresting food with some chocolate thrown into the recipes. yuk!! Who wants white chocolate mash I ask!? The girls were useless and by the time we sat down onto what was a filthy table as there was only one girl cleaning up our dinner was cold. POOR, POOR, POOR Service! Take a picnic everyone!! Not a totally wasted day but I did expect more. The fact that they had naff boards up everywhere hiding the once working factory behind glass which used to show the workers packaging was a real shame. I don't think they actually make chocolate there anymore now so for all of you out there thinking your going to see how the factory works don't be downhearted when what you actually see is a glorified show. PS you do see a little handy work from about 5 workers hand decorating chocolate but its just done for effect. But you do get some free melted chocolate with a choice of topping, whilst watching them. Plenty of parking, we were greeted with a person dressed up on stilts. I had booked tickets on line and saved some money. We collected tickets and received 5 chocolate bars each. You start the tour by a walk through history of chocolate discovery, very interesting and fun to learn. You get to taste some samples along the way and photo oppertunities in front of fun backgrounds. Thereare a couple of restaurants and rides to go on. A really good experience and fun for all ages.
