About Hampton Court Palace
Stunningly grand and absolutely full of history, Hampton Court Palace is a must visit. Adults and children alike will love learning about the story of this historic Royal Palace; step back in time and immerse yourself in the opulence of the Tudor period, be impressed by Henry VIII’s kitchens and be sure not to miss his beautifully replicated crown. Beware however, the Ghost of Catherine Howard (Henry’s fifth wife) stalks the Haunted Gallery.
The palace holds several incredible rooms of great interest, including its Chocolate Kitchen, the Chapel Royal and the Great Hall. Outside you’ll discover the sublime Hampton Court gardens, the restored Privy Garden and the Royal Tennis Courts. You absolutely mustn’t come away from the palace until you have gotten completely lost in its infamous maze.
Just south-west of the capital, close by to Richmond-on-Thames and easily accessed by road, rail or even by riverboat, Hampton Court Palace is rightly popular with visitors from London and makes the perfect day trip. There’s so much to see and do at the palace, you can spend the whole day being fascinated by the history and captivated by the beauty and still not get round to seeing it all.
