This was the most disappointing day out. We went with our grandsons (16 & 13) and we love the fast rides. Entry to the park took around 30mins as there were massive queues to enter and it was very hard to determine which queue to join for pre paid entry. 1st ride - Once in we headed straight for Saw as this had a 25 minute wait. Never believe the waiting times! we were in the queue for at least 1 hour and when we finally got to the entry door the ride was suspended to allow the staff to add another car. This added another 30 minutes to our queuing time. Why was the car not added prior to the park opening? They must realise it would be busy as it was the 1st Saturday of the new season. We were finally in! hooray!! but our jubilation was soon quashed as there was then another announcement that SAW was closed due to the wind!!! and you were advised to find another ride and come back later. Many people left the queue but we decided to wait it out as we had already waited so long. After around 15 minutes they announced it was now open again. So now we had been waiting for this ride for nearly 2 hours before we had the 2 min ride. Very enjoyable 2 minutes! It was now lunchtime so we thought we would eat before trying other rides and we ate in the Bush Tucker which was very nice and the staff were great. 2nd ride We wanted to go on Nemeses Inferno but the wait was 75 mins so we thought that we would go on Tidal Wave as that was only 10 mins (Ha Ha). We joined the queue and after about 15 minutes the ride stopped as they wanted to add another boat. We couldn't believe our luck. Again why was this not done prior to opening. We again waited it out as we had come this far but it took around 1 hour before we managed to get a ride. Our day was disappearing fast. 3rd ride Next we thought we would try to get on Colossus (this said it was a 75 minute wait) but we knew this would turn out to be at least 90 minutes. So we went to X as this said 25 minute wait. 1 and 1/2 hours later we had completed the ride. We wanted to ride the Swarm but that was a 90 minute wait so we thought we would get a fast track so went to the booth but guess what, the queue was vast. Why is there only one place to buy fast track, why not take a leaf out of other parks books and have booths set around the park for fast track tickets. Stealth was closed as was Derren Brown Ghost Train, and the I'm a Celebrity and this of course contributed to the other ride waiting times. It was now past 4 o'clock and we had been there 6 hours and completed 3 rides! We couldn't stand to queue for that long any more so decided to call it a day and went home. What I can't understand is why were the rides closed as they had all winter to get everything up and running. It was a shambles. it turned out each 2min (if it was that long) ride cost us £10 per person. Where else would you pay that? Collapse

Took my boyfriend here for a birthday present, the Friday was amazing and there were practically no ques for anything! Saturday was a lot busier with long ques but it was to be expected. Only disappointing thing was Stealth not being open on the Friday and then opening really late on the Saturday leaving us no time to go on it all over rides were great though, highly recommend Collapse

My 11 year old sister and I were looking forward to a fun day out at Thorpe Park. Unfortunately, that was not what we got at all!!!!!! Firstly, we arrived early to maximise the day but still ended up queueing for over an hour just to get inside the gates, thanks to the fact that 2/6 ticket booths were open which was annoying. The first ride we queued for was Nemesis Inferno which was meant to take 45 mins but actually took 80. It seemed like they were very understaffed and things were running frustratingly slowly. Nonetheless, we still thought it was going to be a good day. Because it was already lunchtime by the time we finally got off of inferno, we went for what was meant to be a quick lunch at Bush BBQ. Our experience here was shocking!!! The queue to order food was about 20 minutes and then after waiting another 30 for it to arrive, the waitress then gave our order to another table. After watching the waitress and manager hopelessly try and understand the problem, I eventually had to go over and explain it to them and re-order my food. The manager gave us some free drinks to say sorry but that wasn't good enough really considering the fact that they had wasted so much of our potential ride time by this point (or should I say queue time). When we finally got the food (which was totally unimpressive), it tasted so greasy and unhealthy I actually felt sick and wished I hadn't spent £13 on some undercooked chicken goujons and a plain burger. After lunch we we to colossus. Expected wait time: 60 minutes. Actual wait time: 125 minutes. Utter madness. We didn't even realise what we were getting ourselves in to by joining this queue. It was an actual joke with just 1 ride going round every 5 minutes due to understaffing. It was a painstakingly long wait with my little sister who was understandably upset that it was reaching 3pm and we had only been on 1 ride!?!? When we were inside colossus, the ride announcer told us the park was extending its opening hours til 6 so we could have "an extra hour of fun" which wasn't much consolation considering at that point we had only actually had 45 seconds of fun on nemesis inferno. Afterwards, we managed to just about fit in Swarm and Saw but to be honest, going on 4 rides in 10 hours is seriously seriously shocking. It was a complete let-down and it has made me never want to visit again. The most upsetting thing was that it was my sisters birthday and she was quite disappointed. The park was clearly understaffed and 9 rides were shut. I don't understand how Thorpe park allowed this to happen. Also, to top it off, I was charged £6 for the carpark and this wasn't clearly explained at all until you got to the barriers so it was lucky that I had £6 change on me otherwise I wouldn't have been able to even get our and take us home after our rubbish day. I personally think it's disgusting that after paying £52 for the rides alone (which worked out £13 a ride seeing as we only got on 4 rides), plus an extortionate lunch that wasn't even nice and then extortionate prices for anything extra, I was then charged an extortionate amount to park. Merlin and Thorpe Park are greedy in my opinion because they clearly have no consideration for their customer satisfaction and only care about making money. It really was a 1* day, which was a shame because I've been in the past and had a lot of fun. I can't believe how badly it went yesterday and the fact we spent literally 8 hours queueing. Overall, we probably spent about 2 minutes on rides... It's put me off for life but not my little sister so hopefully I can obtain some sort of compensation for her next trip there. Collapse

Positives: The thrill rides are great, it was very quiet and easy to navigate. Negatives: The staff were grossly under trained and under equipped to deal with certain situations. Nowhere near enough staff on each roller coaster. It felt like they were on a bare minimum policy. There were large groups of children and teenagers roaming the park and causing trouble. Choosing groups or individuals to bully, swearing loudly in the que lines and generally being disgusting towards other guests. We told several staff members but they said that they couldn't do anything about it. We felt unsafe at times and would not suggest visiting unless you want to be part of a gang war. I am so disappointed as Thorpe park has so much potential but seems to run on a low cost/ bare minimum strategy that is putting guests in danger. Limit the amount of solo children and teenagers or employ more security for the lines. Collapse
