We visited Thorpe Park with our teenage daughters on the Halloween weekend. What an absolute travesty! The que just to get through the token bag search should have been a clue as to what was to follow. If they had stopped everyone from taking cannabis into the park I don’t think we would have ever got through the gates. Once inside the park (which we have visited on a few occasions in the past) looked like it hadn’t seen much maintenance since our last visit some years ago. This might explain why most rides kept being closed due to dangerous winds. Bear in mind we are talking about a steel structure in concrete foundations! Most staff didn’t look old enough to have a driving license and had next to no knowledge of the park that they were working at and didn’t seem particularly bothered if they helped you or not. Please think very carefully before spending your hard earned money and time at Thorpe Park. It’s glory days seem to be well past. I also find that some other reviews from the same period are even talking about the same venue we visited plus the lack of response from Thorpe Park to the negative reviews a little surprising!! It would be embarrassing to try and explain this place to someone from the USA. Now they know how it’s done!! Collapse

Visited for a birthday treat for the fright night experience. I could write an essay on the disappointing experience we had at Thorpe Park. To try and put it briefly, very run down park and dirty, rubbish everywhere. Lack of security, groups causing havoc in the park. We experienced one fight/argument in a queue for a ride and the poor girl running the ride on her own had no control. The constant smell of weed as walked around the park, the security and bag inspections at the entrance not very good at all. The lack of customer service and the sheer rudeness of some staff when you asked a question and their lack of knowledge of the park. Not all rides being operational, the constant breaking down of rides, queuing for two hours at a time then being turned away and not even an apology, just sheer rudeness. I could go on!! We were given a pass to come back this year by May for another day but we won't be returning sadly. We have travelled and been to many Theme Parks here and abroad and this was an embarrassment. Goodness know what tourists from abroad think when they visit here. The Halloween scare fest experience at Alton Towers knocked spots off Thorpe Park. I would recommend to anyone to try there and not waste your time or money at Thorpe Park. It is a shame , as some of the rides are brilliant and they could have a fantastic Theme Park. Merlin I cannot believe you are happy to have your name associated with Thorpe Park at this present time and I seriously think you need to have a serious look at the park and a huge overhaul to get it back to how it once was, otherwise it will be just run into the ground. Bitterly disappointed. Collapse

I wish I could say that the large amount of anti-social behaviour taking place on the opening Sunday of Fright Night was the worst part of our day. But the experience from start to finish was awful. I purchased ultimate fast track tickets as I thought would be wise, knowing how busy fright nights are. It was also a surprise gift for my husband’s birthday as we had a much needed first day off alone after having a baby. First, the queue for collecting our tickets outside the park was a pain. Then the queue to collect our fast track passes was just adding to the annoyance of all this queuing which I had paid the pricey sum of £141 to avoid. But still, we set out to have an enjoyable day once we finally had our tickets. The first ride was stealth and I was absolutely shocked that the staff members were not interested in checking our wrist bands in the fast track queue. A mistake, surely? But sadly this was common place throughout the day. We had paid £141 for something that others were getting for free. To say I felt hard done by was an understatement. To then see the anti-social behaviour continuing by a certain group of visitors by queue jumping the fast track queue, disabled queues and any other queue they could find with staff not batting an eyelid was appalling. I understand these are young people working at the park and it is not for them to put themselves at risk. So why did I see no security presence in the park whatsoever? We had planned to stay the whole day to maximise our experience but ended up leaving at 3pm as we felt very unsafe. There were fights happening all around as well as physical attacks on us in being pushed into as we tried to walk through these people. They wanted to start a fight for anything. This group was not small either, there were HUNDREDS of them. Thorpe park resort got many things wrong that day. The lack of security which made the park a scary and unsafe place to be, the dated park decor and several non-operational rides, Derren Brown’s ghost train was laughable with the VR headsets all broken making the whole ride pointless, and the staff members who were unable to control their visitors but at the same time were very rude to us when we asked simple questions. So I wrote to complain and request a refund, ONLY for the fast track tickets I purchased. After a long wait, I finally received a response stating the events of the day were not their fault, it was the group of anti-social people and I was invited to visit again in 2018 but they would NOT give me a refund as that is not their policy. I paid for a service which I did not receive. There was nothing FAST about my fast track experience with all the queue jumping being allowed to take place, with no respect to the fast track system of checking wrist bands. I could have had pretty much the same experience for £140 less. The fact you do not offer refunds is irrelevant. My statutory rights mean that if I am paying for a service, you must provide what I have paid for. I would not visit the park again, not only because we get very few opportunities to go out for the day without a baby, but it would be a completely waste of my time. The park is worn out and unsafe, and Thorpe Park clearly have enough revenue to improve this with the ridiculously high prices they charge their customers. Collapse

Thorpe Park was a great experience. I stayed in the Thorpe Shark Hotel with two other people. I knew the room was styled as a shipping container however the Resort described the bathroom as a spacious area big enough for a bedroom. Yet, when I arrived, if someone wanted to shower the water would touch the toilet. It was a hassle. Apart from that, the rides were fun. The lines were bearable and the people were nice. Collapse
