About Stepping Out
Showing at London’s Vaudeville Theatre, Stepping Out is a comedy musical which was awarded the Evening Standard Award for Best Comedy in 1984. This new version of the side-splitting show will be directed by triple Olivier Award winner Maria Friedman and boasts an all-star cast, including Amanda Holden, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Tamzin Outhwaite, Nicola Stephenson and Natalie Casey.
A group of seven women and one man attempt to dance their troubles away at a weekly tap dancing class. Despite showing little coordination at first, the group is just getting to grip with the basics when they are asked to take part in a charity gala.
History of Stepping Out
Inspired by the original 1991 film starring Lisa Minnelli and Julie Walters, the Stepping Out original production of Stepping Out first opened on the West End at Duke of York’s Theatre in 1984, and in 1996 the show was made into a musical, opening at the Theatre Royal Plymouth.
