About Privates on Parade
As part of the new series of productions from the Michael Grandage Company, the award-winning Privates on Parade London will arrive at the Noël Coward Theatre from 1st December 2012 until 2nd March 2013.
Written by Peter Nichols, Privates on Parade London is set in South East Asia at the end of the Second World War and follows the escapades of the fictional Song and Dance Unit South East Asia (SADUSEA). Newly recruited to the troupe, Private Steven Flowers must prove his manhood, without relying on his uniform as he reports to the effervescent Captain Dennis. Guests on a Privates on Parade theatre break can enjoy hilarious performances from stage legend Simon Russell Beale, as he takes on the role of the Captain and gives memorable renditions of Marlene Dietrich, Vera Lynn and Carmen Miranda.
Anyone taking a Privates on Parade theatre break this winter can enjoy the hilarious musical arrangements and witty plotline that earned the play a Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy when it was first performed in London at the Aldwych Theatre in 1977. The Privates on Parade play was made into a film in 1982 which starred the comedic favourite John Cleese.
