My late father was a golf professional who designed one of the 2 golf courses at St Pierre nr Chepstow - now a Marriott Hotel. My brother, his son and I decided to play a round of golf at his course. The game of golf was very enjoyable but quite expensive considering how much we were paying to stay at the hotel. I booked in March and rang the hotel just before leaving to drive 150 miles to St Pierre and was told that the hotel did not have our reservation. I rang the Marriott hotel central booking office and was told the same. I then rang Superbreaks and they rang Marriott and sorted it out in 2 minutes. Then Marriott rang me back to say that they now had found my room. I expected better service from such an expensive hotel. We tried both restaurants and found the food was OK but not much better and not worth the cost. We drove to a pub on the A48 called the Rock & Fountain and had an excellent meal for a very reasonable price.
