From the airport try to pre-book a car or collection, the white cab service is very expensive. There are hundreds of small places to eat all over Malta so go out and try different ones every day:) If you're going to Vittoriosa from Valetta then get the water taxi, it's about a quarter of the price of a road taxi and well worth a visit. Make sure you want a slow paced holiday if you're going in summertime - its hot! Also, really take time to 'soak up' the atmosphere. Most of the roads are in a bit of a state but the island is improving in leaps and bounds.
