A Break in Edinburgh

Stay Date: 27/11/14, a customer aged 65+ from Wigan who stayed at 4* Holiday Inn Edinburgh in Edinburgh wrote this review.

The hotel is situated about 3 miles from the city centre which is not a problem as there is a regular bus service every 10 mins. For £1.50 each way. The bus stops directly outside the hotel and See More  Read more information drops off just across the road, so ideal. The hotel was very clean, the rooms above average for the price we paid and the breakfasts excellent with lots of choice. We had dinner on the first eveningincluded in the price and found the food excellent. There was a choice of dining in the restaurant, In the bar or in the room and we chose the restaurant. This is quite basic as far as the tables and decorare concerned but the service and the food were good. We asked for a quiet room and it certainly was that, never heard a thing. It overlooked the Zoo car park and as it was November there weren'tmany visitors, if any. Parking is provided free at the hotel which is a bonus in large cities. Spaces seem to be adequate but if it is full you are allowed to use the Zoo car park, again for free. Wevisited Edinburgh castle which is well worth seeing and also Mary King's close which is less so, a bit overpriced for what there is to see. The shopping experience as you would expect in Edinburgh isvery good. We were fortunate to be there at the time of the Christmas Fair. It was the largest we have seen in the UK. All lit up for Christmas and selling a variety of things from home and abroad. All in all an excellent break. We would certainly recommend this City and the hotel.   Collapse  Hide

Edinburgh Weekender

Stay Date: 21/11/14, a customer aged 25-44 who stayed at 4* Holiday Inn Edinburgh in Edinburgh wrote this review.

Hotel excellent location, right next door to the zoo which we visited on our last day - great day out!! Overall facilities were good except for the first night where the sofa bed was inadequate i.e. See More  Read more information the mattress was sliding through the frame and wafer thin. However the hotel manager quickly rectified this problem and gave us an additional room. Didn't get chance to use the leisure facilities asEdinburgh has so much to offer. Got the airport shuttle which dropped us off right outside our hotel and also caught it on our return journey. There were 3 buses which we could get to take us into thecity centre so there was no need for taxis. Once again great hotel and fantastic location. Excellent value for money.   Collapse  Hide

Holiday inn

Stay Date: 06/12/14, a customer aged 25-44 from Crook who stayed at 4* Holiday Inn Edinburgh in Edinburgh wrote this review.

Perfect location, especially for the zoo, free parking at hotel, regular coaches to city centre (stop right outside of hotel) but you must have correct change for bus! Hotel is very modern however See More  Read more information pool and jacuzzi could do with a refurb. Staff very polite and helpful, the family room we had was very clean and beds comfy, only minor complaint would be the noise through the night coming from thepassers by outside and other guests in the hotel however you would get this most big hotels. Good choice for breakfast and dining area very comfortable and spacious. Would definitely stay here again infuture.   Collapse  Hide

We had a fabulous time in Edinburgh, the hotel was fab with a pool and was on a bus route in and out of Edinburgh - we took the number 26 in and out and they were every 10 minutes and the tickets See More  Read more information were only £1.50 for an adult and 70p for a child. We visited the museum in Edinburgh and it was fantastic, really family friendly even for our baby. Our trip up on a virgin train was straight forwardand relaxing and all in all the hotel, train ride and weekend was a perfect family weekend away! The Low Road in Loch Lomond

Stay Date: 06/02/16, a customer aged 45-64 from United Kingdom who stayed at 3* Winnock Hotel in Drymen (Loch Lomond) wrote this review.

Deluxe bedroom was nice but television in bathroom did not work and curtains had been pulled off the hooks at the window. This was not rectified during our 3 night stay. On the plus side food was See More  Read more information excellent but much preferred the bar as had a roaring fire and the staff were excellent. Ate in the restaurant one night and found it very stark and unwelcoming. The only concession to evening diningwere wine glasses on the table. No effort had been put in to making it a welcoming place to eat, no candles, flowers or even a tablecloth which would have been nice. Staff in the restaurant were alsovery slow and we didn't even get offered a wine list and had to ask for it. Your staff in the restaurant need to take some lessons from the staff in the bar! Breakfast was also a hit and a misssometimes as we had to wait every morning for tea and toast to be served, sometimes having to ask twice for it apart from the last morning when the young man who served us was very efficient and could havetaught the girls a thing or two. This wasn't a cheap break and more attention should have been paid to the details.   Collapse  Hide
