Family Short Break

Stay Date: 09/04/07, a customer from Chepstow who stayed at 3* Mercure Inverness in Inverness wrote this review.

We visited Inverness for 5 nights over the easter holidays. It was a great location to visit the local attractions. The exhibition 2000 was especially worthwhile, exploring the myth of the loch ness See More  Read more information monster from a factual point of view. We had several memorable meals out, notably at Cafe No 1 which had a superb menu and a superb menu for children as well. This is a rare sight and muchappreciated by us. The hotel was comfortable although undergoing some redecoration and renovations. It had a good central location and gave us easy accessibility to the local shops on foot.   Collapse  Hide

Two Days on the Isle of Skye

Stay Date: 07/04/07, a customer who stayed at 2* Kings Arms Hotel in Isle of Skye wrote this review.

First, we visited Eileen Donan Castle about 9 miles before you take the Skye Bridge over to the island. The castle is a must in terms of a picture stop. Inside isn't that impressive. Next, you See More  Read more information should stop in Kyle of Lochalsh and eat at a small restaurant on the right hand side of the road right before the last signal light. I can't remember the name, but the bucket of mussels in Thai Green Currywill forever be in my memory. The Isle of Skye itself isn't that impressive if you don't get out of the car. Hiking or walking is highly recommended. Other activities would be to take a tour of theTalisker Distillery or a brewery tour in Uig, which you have to call ahead for. The one attraction my family liked was Armadale Gardens & Castle. The grounds are beautiful to walk around and theviews of the sea are great. There's a nice little museum and shop where you can learn about the Jacobite period and the Donald clan.   Collapse  Hide
