Booked a night at Normandy prior to an early morning flight from Glasgow airport. Room was clean and bed comfortable, carpet had a stain but overall happy with room. Evening meal which was included See More  Read more information in price was very good. Breakfast was lovely. Would definitely use Normandy again and would recommend to friends. Very good value for money. However, don't rely on them for early morning call, thatwas 30 minutes late, luckily we only asked for one as back up.   Collapse  Hide

A Wonderful City Edinburgh

Stay Date: 03/03/07, a customer from Gateshead who stayed at 5* The Principal Edinburgh George Street in Edinburgh wrote this review.

We arrived by car early afternoon and were able to book in to hotel earlier than predicted. We immediatly went across the road to the Hard Rock Cafe for afternoon lunch and were more than welcomed, a See More  Read more information very pleasant atmosphere with good music and frendly staff. We then went to Edinburgh's most famous store "Jenners" which is absoulutly amazing were you can buy almsot anything (Such a joy). We wenton to the bus sightseeing tour with a tour guide who could have made his living as a stand up comedian, it was so good we talked about going on the tour again on our next visit to Edinburgh. We thenviisted the Castle which was amazing and so was the entrance fee (enough said). We also visted the new Houses of Parliment and was astonished at the modern building which seems out of place in such ahistoric city. Overall we really enjoyed our stay in Edinburgh and will visit time and time again, the best thing about Edinbugh is that they have a no smoking law in all the bars, restaurants and wellalmost every where which is such a joy to walk into a bar or restaurant and not be faced with someone elses smoke. The environmental police wardens ensure that the city is keept clean, because it isimmaculate, unlike 7/8 years ago. Edinburgh is one of my top 10 places to stay in the UK.   Collapse  Hide

Things To Do In Edinburgh

Stay Date: 29/03/07, a customer who stayed at 5* The Principal Edinburgh George Street in Edinburgh wrote this review.

Best visit was Royal Yacht Britannia. Fascinating insight into lifestyle enjoyed by present monarchy, contrasting with facilities 'enjoyed' by ratings and staff. Well worth the trip to Ocean See More  Read more information Terminal (Leith), which is itself a half decent shopping mall with nice cafes overlooking harbour. Edinburgh Castle noted more for its coffee and scone than anything else. These, if nothing else, were worththe slog up the royal mile against force 10 wind from the Artic Circle !!! Best restaurant - Stac Polly on St Mary's Rd (off Royal Mile (Canongate), near Parliament. Great Scottish food - not cheapbut definitely worth it.   Collapse  Hide

If you have not visited this hotel, then you are missing out on an opportunity to stay in elegent surroundings overlooking the sea. As our short break was only two nights we made the most of the See More  Read more information Spa at the Marine, which has a variety of steam rooms and a fantastic outdoor 'jacuzzi', quite something when it's cold and you are sitting outside in a hot seawater bath!! For both our nights we atein the restraunt. The dining room, a beautiful setting, with views to the sea, service discreet, but very warm, and the food, especially pudding, divine!! North Berwick is a lovely town, lots ofshops, cafes and (I do keep going on!) the sea!!! Great all year round destination.   Collapse  Hide
