Royal Norfolk Hotel, London Reviews (Paddington)

Visited some very interesting places. Weather very cold for early Spring. Hotel was in a great location for us.

Our hotel room was v basic, with the shower room appearing to be in a wardrobe! girls' room was bigger and better. Food was fine. Great location, v close to paddington tube. Found surprisingly easy to get around. Garfunkels had good atmosphere in evening.

Hotel is very 'tired' staff were ok, breakfast room staff were very good and the breakfast was good. Room was extremely small and shower room was only just acceptable wc was brown below waterline nothing a cleaning chemical wouldn't solve, shower was 'child size' the lino floor was crack and had been in need of repair for some time.

Our hotel was located across from paddington station so in terms of location it was great. When I booked the hotel, it said that the lift was broken and under repair. I naturally thought that as i'd booked it several months in advance the lift would be working by the time we went. Wrong. The lift was still broken and the man at reception said it had been so for months. We had 71 steps to get to our room. My mum is 67 and has had a stroke so this posed a bit of a problem. The shower was over a bath - no mat, no shower curtain. This meant my mum couldn't use it as it was too slippy and too much hassle to climb in and out. I managed to use it but it wasn't the best. The beds were clean and this room was ok if only for sleeping in! we had to ask about our tv as it beeped continually (apparently has a built-in alarm clock). Someone came to look at the tv but was unable to stop it beeping. We asked if we could just have a different one to which we were told no!!! we waited on it to stop beeping (finally the next day). This hotel is good if you aren't bothered about luxury and you like stairs. It's shabby and a bit worn looking but in terms of location it's ideal. I wouldn't stay there again but it certainly didn't ruin our trip - we had a great time.
