Edinburgh at Christmas

out of 5We decided to go away for a few days over Christmas and selected Edinburgh as an ideal place to experience the festivities. The apartments were a little difficult to find but were excellent as a base andin easy walking distance of the Royal Mile. All-in-all it was a good value trip with good restaurants, friendly people and greta travel arrangements.

out of 5As I went with my two teenage children, I rented a town house rather than stay in a hotel as suggested by one of your staff, this turned out to be an excellent choice and worked much better for us than a hotel, as we caught the train, and didn't have our own transport it was in a very good position being a 5 minute walk from the station and just off the Royal Mile.

out of 5There is a lot to do in this wonderful city. Starting off with the open top bus tours gives a good sense of layout, wonderful views and snippets of history! A lot can be done for free, in particular the tour of the Scottish Parliament. A 2 day plus bus tour ticket included a boat trip on the Forth with views of the bridge and seals. Climbing the Scott memorial is only ?3 and has great views. The obligatory climb of Arthurs seat is rewarding and free! Strolling up and down the Royal mile is entertainig. Subtle references to JK Rowling amke teh Elephant cafe a popular spot with great value food.
