The Royal Hotel & Spa Scarborough Reviews (Scarborough)

For anyone interested in ballroom dancing the festival is a must.Coffee dances, tea dances and evening social dances + workshops and a gala evening. Demonstrations from rising stars was exceptional.The hotel was an ideal base and the recommendation to eat at Cafe Fish an excellent fish restaurant is well worth a visit.

Stayed at the Royal Hotel where the service was excellent and bar staff and restaurant staff were pleasant, helpful and sociable (reception staff were a bit frosty though). Good choice on Table d'hote menu and good quality and good selection at breakfast. Street parking near to hotel a problem. Not much of it and wardens pretty hot. Hotel does a deal with NCP but it's a good walk to get there. Plenty of musical entertainment during the day June to Sept at the Spa. Orchestra in the mornings and organist in the afternoons.

Chilled out in the great lounge, soaked up the atmosphere of the whole hotel.Ate good food, drank good wine and beer and relaxed.Played on the penny machines and laughed a lot.

We had heard so much about Alan Ayckbourn`s theatre in Scarborough that we wanted to visit it.We had no idea what a wonderful place the builing itself would be!The old Odeon cinema has been beautifully restored to look just as it did when it opened in 1936 - even the carpet has been specially woven.On the first visit we had a special rate meal served while the performance is on. Then we returned the following night to see an Ayckbourn play in the round. Both meal and play were excellent!
