Agents Urged To Capitalise On Record Demand For London Bookings...03 September 2007
...As Superbreak Launches 2nd Edition London Travel Service Brochure.
Superbreak Mini-Holidays has added new theatre breaks, new hotels and new exhibition packages to its second edition London Travel Service brochure, due into agents from 6 September onwards. The new brochure launches at a time when the operator reports record demand into London through travel agents with over 141,000 customers already booked in the seven months (January – July 07) – a 36% increase on 2006. Prices lead in at £43.50pppn b/b at the three star Royal National Hotel.
Ian Mounser, sales director at Superbreak comments: “There are no signs of demand slowing up, in fact it appears to be quite the opposite. We are on target for agents to book over 260,000 customers into London by the end of the year. I believe there are several factors why London continues to thrive. There is still great demand for and a broad choice of West End shows and Superbreak continues to have excellent access to tickets for these shows. The opening of the O2 complex has brought a whole range of additional concerts and events to the city plus we will have two big exhibitions arriving over the next six – nine months. Add this to the great rail deals we have all year round, the choice and availability at nearly 250 hotels to suit all budgets and London’s enduring appeal and you can see the opportunities over the coming months.”
Furthermore, the operator reports that the average booking value of a short break into the capital is increasing. Currently it stands at £356, compared to £320 in 2006, which on average earns agents commission of approximately £60.
Mounser adds “Prices in London have hardened somewhat due to demand, but this growth in booking value also shows that agents are working harder and booking more pre-bookable add-ons such as rail and theatre.
