Superbreak Launches 2007 Theme Parks & Attraction Breaks Programme with 15 New Packages25 January 2007
Superbreak has launched a new ‘Theme Parks & Attraction Breaks’ programme for 2007 following a successful inaugural year. Furthering the operator’s focus on ‘packaged’ UK breaks, the brochure features 15 new products that are all pre-bookable as part of a UK short break, including the London Dungeon, the Tutankhamun exhibition in London, the Blue Planet Aquarium on the Wirral and Holyrood House in Edinburgh. The total number of theme parks, attractions and events now available in the programme is 92 – a growth of 16%. Covering stays until April 08, prices lead in at £34.50 per adult, £7 per child for a Manchester United museum and tour package.
The operator reports that in the last three months (October – December 06) over 35% of all agent bookings and 40% of agent revenue for UK breaks has been on ‘packaged’ product, ie containing more than just the hotel. During this period, agents have booked 27,000 customers onto breaks including theme park, attraction or event tickets, excluding theatre.
57 theme park and attraction breaks are available and 35 event and special interest breaks.

The London Dungeon – From £17.95 per adult, £12.95 per child – The Dungeons are not for the faint hearted. A unique combination of real history, horror and humour bring gruesome historic events back to life in the 21st Century. Must be booked in conjunction with a London hotel break.
The Blue Planet Aquarium, Ellesmere Port - From £37.50 per adult, 7.75 per child – From huge sharks to tiny clown fish there are an amazing array of animals plus and underwater walkway that transports guest into the depths of the Caribbean. The price includes one night at the three star Holiday Inn Chester West with a ticket to the attraction. Based on two adults and up to two children sharing a room. Breakfast is included for the adults, children pay locally.
Holyrood House, Edinburgh – From £42 per adult, £5.50 per child – The Palace of Holyroodhouse is Her Majesty The Queen’s official residence in Scotland and stands at the end of the Royal Mile. The price includes one night at the three star Travelodge Edinburgh Central with a ticket to the attraction. Based on two adults and up to two children sharing a room. Breakfast is included for the adults, children pay locally.
Genesis are back after 15 years! - £275pp - Genesis are back for their first tour in 15 years! Tony Banks, Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford will be joined on stage by long time Genesis sidemen, Chester Thompson on drums and Daryl Stuermer on guitar. See them live Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester on 7 July and make a weekend of it. The price of £275 per person includes two night’s b/b accommodation (6 and 7 July) at the five star Radisson Edwardian Hotel and a ticket to the concert.
Ian Mounser, sales director at Superbreak comments “Our first year of this product went really well and agents have got behind the product. I expect by the end of 2007 that over 50% of all our UK leisure breaks revenue with agents will be for packages that include accommodation and another element such as theme park or attraction tickets.”
To ensure agents have as much information as possible at their fingertips, the brochure contains details of each attraction’s location and its opening times. 400,000 brochures are being printed for distribution to agents between now and June 07. It will be with agents from 26 January onwards and a Thomas Cook overbranded version is also being produced.
