Superbreak Bring Out the Festive Cheer05 December 2006
35% of festive breaks still to book
With just a couple of weeks to go before Christmas, Superbeak reports that bookings for Christmas and New Year 2006 are up 37% in bookings compared to 2005 and 47% in revenue terms. The operator expects agents to book over 20,000 customers on breaks for stays over the festive period and predicts that 30% of customers have still to book with many leaving it to just days before.
Ian Mounser, sales director at Superbreak comments “The average booking value for specific Christmas and New Year packages is over £700 which enables an agent to earn on average around £120 commission per booking. As we all know, shops are traditionally quieter at this time and these breaks are one way of boosting earnings.”
Agents are booking both specific Christmas and New Year packages alongside traditional bookings for hotel nights made on the usual basis.
