It is now possible to enjoy a private, guided tour of Spencer House, London’s most magnificent private palace with a new package launched by short break specialist, Superbreak (www.superbreak.com). The general public can only visit Spencer House on a Sunday but it is now possible to have a private tour on selected Friday’s from November 06 – April 2007.
Located near Green Park and St James, Spencer House was built in 1756-66 for John, first Earl of Spencer, an ancestor of Diana, Princess of Wales. It has been the object of one of the most ambitious restoration projects to be undertaken in the country. The House has now been restored to its original splendour and works have been borrowed from various sources including the Royal Collection, The Royal Academy and the Tate Gallery.
The tour takes place at 2pm on the Friday and lasts approximately two hours and is combined with overnight accommodation. Available dates are 17 November, 15 December, 16 February, 23 March and 20 April.
