Superbreak Launch 2nd Edition Theme Parks & Attraction Breaks Programme With New Merlin Pass03 June 2009
Superbreak had launched its second edition ‘Theme Parks & Attractions’ brochure and added a new annual pass that allows access to a wide range of attractions for a whole year. The brochure launches in time for the peak summer period at most parks and attractions and the operator reports sales through agents are up 15% year on year for the four months from January – April, with 50,000 customers booked. To date, one in three bookings now includes at least one attraction ticket.
For the first time, Superbreak is offering agents the opportunity to book the Merlin Annual Pass for customers looking who enjoy visiting theme parks across the UK. This product does not need to be sold in conjunction with accommodation and can be sold on a stand alone basis. The Merlin Annual Pass offers customers the chance to enjoy unlimited entry for one year to all the attractions around the UK owned by Merlin. It is priced from £150 per person, or £400 per family of four (two adults and two children under 12 or one adults and three children under 12). Parks included in the annual pass include Alton Towers, Chessington World of Adventures and Zoo, The London, York and Edinburgh Dungeons, Legoland Windsor, the London Eye, Madame Tussauds London, Sealife Centres and Sanctuaries around the UK including the London Aquarium, Thorpe Park and Warwick Castle.
Also new into the second edition brochure are four Diggerland parks in Durham, Devon, Yorkshire and Kent. Diggerland is the best activity day out for the whole family. There are over 18 different rides, drives and attractions using real full sized construction machinery set in an adventure park setting. Visitors can experience the thrills of riding in Spindizzy, enjoy the view from the Sky Shuttle or hang on for a mystery ride in the Land Rover Safari. These parks are ideal for families offering the chance to drive across rough terrain in the Ground Shuttle or get behind the wheel of 8 tons of JCB 3CX. A range of packages are available that include overnight accommodation and park tickets. Prices from £139 for a family of four staying one night at the four star Bridgewood Manor hotel at Rochester and entry to Diggerland in Kent for all.
The A5 brochure also contains 16 different London attractions, over 13 event and entertainment breaks, the full range of London and Stratford-Upon-Avon theatre breaks plus golf, spa and Orient Express packages. Ideal for agents to push to families during the summer holidays, children’s deals are available at most hotels which allow them to stay for free. All breaks are pre-bookable both via the call centre or on the web (www.superbreak.com/agents) and are fully commissionable so agents can maximise earnings.
Chris Cundall, sales office manager at Superbreak comments: “Pre-booking attractions helps families budget better and in many instances can provide timed entry or queue jumper tickets ensuring customers get as much for their money as possible. Theme park and attraction breaks are becoming more and more popular, especially in the current climate when families may see a UK short break as an alternative to a larger, more expensive overseas holiday. With the summer fast approaching, I urge agents to promote these type of breaks as much as possible as they can earn full commission on all elements including the attraction tickets.”
