Superbreak Urges Agents To Focus On 'Shop Around The Clock' Christmas Shopping Breaks05 November 2007
Superbreak is urging agents to turn its attention to Christmas shopping short breaks to help boost earnings in the build up to Christmas. Many shops in key city centres will be opening late on the lead up to Christmas allowing people to literally shop around the clock and the operator reports that a few days away of Christmas retail therapy is proving very popular. With just over six weeks to go, Superbreak predicts that as many as 35,000 customers are still to book shopping breaks in the run up to Christmas which provides excellent earning opportunities for agents.
London continues to be the leading choice for Christmas shopping and November and December are two of the busiest months for London. Last year, agents were responsible for bringing over 75,000 customers to London in those two months. Agents need to remember the added bonus of the Christmas lights which are already shining bright on Oxford Street and will be turned on on Regent Street on the 20th November. Further afield, city centres in the main UK cities are also popular with destinations such as Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham always see high occupancy leading up until Christmas.
Superbreak is also keen for agents to work out what major shopping centres are within their short break catchement area and promote shopping packages staying at hotels near places such as Bluewater, The Metro Centre, Lakeside and Meadowhall.
Chris Cundall, Sales Office Manager commented “Our seven strong sales team are working hard with agents at the moment to get them to focus on this important market which we feel can help boost their earnings a time which can traditionally be a little quieter for them. City centres and cities with big shopping malls are always popular with customers choosing to visit the city one day and then a nearby shopping centre the next. For example, Newcastle city centre and the Metro Centre or Manchester and the Trafford Centre are popular combinations.”
“With over 40,000 shops and 25 street markets London has everything that any discerning shopper would ever require. Oxford Street is the busiest street in the world and over half a million people walk down Oxford Street every day of the year and this is something agents need to ensure they are getting a slice of! They need to use their expertise and match the customers shopping needs with a hotel in a suitable area of the Capital.”
