out of 5The Piries Hotel was one of the worse hotels I've stayed in , especially for the rates they charge. The first room we were given had only one curtain and when told of this the staff replied at least it's the one near the bed and weren't going to do anything. The next room was very small and three floors below our original with no offer of help or lift . There was no table the tv didn't work properly and the key card kept needing reprogramming , worse of all the shower was so small in the doorway you had trouble getting in it

out of 5Involved a lot of walking! Lots of history. A beautiful art gallery. Lots of good shopping. Highlight was the gastro pub 'The Mercat' which is in Haymarket. Family owned and run - excellent food and drink and reasonably priced.
Weekend in Edinburgh

out of 5From start to finish we had an excellent time in Edinburgh. The train journey from London was smooth and comfortable, and we arrived at our lovely hotel to a warm welcome. The hotel location was ideal for touring the city and the bus was just a 5 minute ride. Edinburgh is a beautiful city with lots to do and see. A trip to the zoo to see the two giant pandas is a must, as is the magnificent Edinburgh Castle and its vast history. There is world of shops to visit and a trip to Edinburgh isn't complete without trying a bit of haggis!
A Great Three Night Break in Edinburgh

out of 5No problems with journey on train, arrived in the evening. Piries Hotel where we booked was all we could wish for. Large pleasant room with all facilities, It did overlook a car hire company but didn't spoil our enjoyment. The continental breakfast was very good the first morning but the food got less over the next two days, unfortunately no fruit, muesli or yogurt was available on the third morning. On first day we went to Waverley Bridge and got a ticket for all five of the sightseeing buses and entry to Edinburgh Castle, Royal Yacht Britannia and Holyrood Palace, a great deal at ?38. The buses all had commentaries, two of them live. We chose to go on the full tour on four of the buses over the two days and also used them to hop on and off to visit Castle etc.very convenient. Overall a great stay in a clean and friendly city. The Scots seem very proud of their city and are only too willing to tell you all about it. Thank you Superbreak for making it all so easy and will definitely book with you again.

2 Days in Edinburgh

Stay Date: 04/03/13
Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5Arrived in Edinburgh Monday evening. Piries Hotel in Coates Gardens was very close to Edinburgh Haymarket Station (about 5 mins walk) and about 15 mins walk to Princes Street (main thoroughfare). Plenty of places to eat in Princes Street and around the Castle - well worth a visit! Hotel staff were very pleasant and we were able to leave our bags at the hotel after checkout so that we could sightsee without the burden of carrying them!
