Three Days in Paris
A customer from Peterborough who stayed at 3* Hotel Gare du Nord in Paris wrote this review.

Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5Thanks to Superbreak, my wife and I were in our hotel - Comfort, Gare du Nord - less than ten minutes after alighting from the Eurostar. Our first day was spent mainly in Montmartre in and about the Sacre Coeur and among the many streets and Places. We visited the Cimitiere du Montmartre and were astonished at the opulence of some of the tombs therein and the famous names within them.In the vening, we walked to the Trocadero to watch the lights on the Eiffel Tower. Then we took the Metro back to our hotel.Day 2 was spent in the Latin Quarter where we saw the Pantheon, the Sorbonne, visited the Rue Mouffetard (a wonderful street market)and, having bought bread, cheese, fruit and wine, we lunched in the Jardin des Plantes. After a visit to Notre Dame, we made our way back to the Place du Tertre for a late evening dinner.Day 3 saw us having coffe on the Boulevard Haussman and climbing the 284 steps to the top of the Arc de Triomphe. The views were astoundig! From there, we took the Metro a few stops to the Grande Arc de La Defense - an awesome sight.By mid-afternoon, we were making our way back to our hotel to collect our bags (they had kept them locked away for us!) and then back to the Gare du Nord to catch the Eurostar home.Tip: To get around Paris easily, buy a carnet (10 single trip Metro tickets). We paid 11.50 euros in Sept, '07.We are already thinking about our next trip.
A Weekend in Paris
A customer who stayed at 3* Touraine Opera Hotel in Paris wrote this review.
Stay Date: 24/08/07
Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5We had a great weekend break in Paris. The Louvre museum probably needs a week to see everything, so we picked particular parts that we were most interested in and we'll go again to see more. The Palace at Versailles is good but quite crowded. Get your tickets for the palace before you go there; we queued about an hour and a half. There doesn't seem to be the same problem for the gardens though. The hotel was a disappointment. We had room 104 which may have been the last available room on the night. The hairdryer was broken, there were sockets not attached to the wall, lightbulb not walking. The final problem was that the plug in the bath was jammed so showere water would not run away. The hotel moved us to a better room, but it didn't seem to be a surprise to them that the room was in that state
