Paphos, the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite, is located on the south-west coast of Cyprus. A family-friendly resort, Paphos has an attractive harbour surrounded by cafes and restaurants. In Greco-Roman times Paphos was the island's capital and there are many historical remains including the exquisite mosaics of the Roman Governor's palace.

Holiday to Cyprus

Our first night in Cyprus was at the Roman Hotel in Paphos. It is a fascinating hotel all decorated with murals in Roman style with columns and architecture which takes you back in time. There is a great outdoor pool at this hotel ideal for an early morning dip. Cyprus is hot in mid summer and not all parts of the hotel have air conditioning but the rooms were fine even in the heat of the evening. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly.
