Spring In North Wales

Stay Date: 26/02/07, a customer from Northallerton who stayed at 4* St Georges Hotel in Llandudno wrote this review.

The day started well as we looked out of our bedroom window the sky was blue and the sea was gently lapping up onto the beach. Early morning dog walkers were to be seen on the promenade. It looked See More  Read more information like a perfect day for enjoying ourselves. We walked up the hill towards the Great Orme surprised to see daffodils out so early. North Wales has a wonderful balmy climate courtesy of the Gulf stream. We quickly got to our destination where we could see both the West and East shores of Llandudno with the high mountains beyond. We felt on top of the world! After an hour or two of clothes shopping -a real pleasure without the weekend crowds we grabbed a cup of coffee and drove to Caernarvon where we strolled around the very well preserved castle where Prince Charles was invested in 1968.Viewsfrom the battlements were spectacular. Then down to the Square for a light lunch, before driving back along the the road which hugs the Menai Straits to Llandudno. The following day we drove throughthe spectacular Conway valley to Betws y coed to see the Swallow Falls there, swollen by all the recent rain. They certainly thundered down. Our lunch at the Hotel was surprisingly tasty and served withspeed and courtesy. All to soon our stay was over and we returned home feeling Spring was truly on its way.   Collapse  Hide

Our Weekend Break in Llandudno

Stay Date: 09/03/07, a customer from Lancashire who stayed at 4* St Georges Hotel in Llandudno wrote this review.

The St George's Hotel has been beautifully refurbished. It is situated on the promenade , which is very convenient. Our lovely evening meal the first night was at a window table .The view of See More  Read more information twinkling lights from the bay, pier and the many palm trees was really lovely. The staff made us very welcome and the service was superb. Our double bedroom, although well appointed, seemed rather small. We very much enjoyed strolling along the promenade and touring the very beautiful countryside and coastal resorts nearby. We had problems finding a restaurant for a meal the second evening (Sat), aswe hadn't booked anywhere. It was early March so many places seemed to be closed. Others were full until after 9.00pm. It seems that there is mainly hotel dining at this time of year.   Collapse  Hide

Mini Break In Chester

Stay Date: 10/08/09, a customer from Northumberland who stayed at 3* Hallmark Hotel Llyndir Hall, Chester South in Rossett wrote this review.

Pulling up to the hotel, it looks grand and luxurious. The room we had booked was in fact double booked and we were not accomodated to a large enough room for the family. The housekeeper was See More  Read more information extremely helpful and we were moved to two adjoining rooms, which were perfect. The hotel itself is extremely luxurious, with lovely pool and spa area. We dined in the bar, eating from the bar/snack menu, which was fair, but expensive and not wonderful, but nice enough. The breakfast each morning more than compensated for the evening meals. Chester zoo is a must visit attraction, but purchase yourtickets from Llyndir Hall hotel, as you get them alot cheaper than direct or online. The shops are old fashioned, with lots of designer boutiques and plenty to browse around. A river cruise for half an houris expensive, as you even pay for under 3yr olds, but it was fun to do, all be it, you do not sail far!! A lovely city which has plenty of history and character, and a lovely hotel to return to aftera busy day exploring.   Collapse  Hide

Springfield But Without The Simpsons!

Stay Date: 27/03/10, a customer from Manchester who stayed at 3* Springfield Hotel & Health Club in Holywell (Nr Chester) wrote this review.

We arrived at this hotel early afternoon, about 5 minutes before the bar restaurant was about to close. Llanberis: Something For Everyone

Stay Date: 15/02/12, a customer who stayed at 3* Royal Victoria Hotel, Llanberis in Llanberis wrote this review.

Llanberis is a lovely little place with plenty of things to do and see and plenty of places to eat, all within a nice walking distance. Near snowdon, you can at busier times of the year get a train See More  Read more information to the top or you can walk around the lake in llanberis itself, which we did and found to be quite a good hike. We ate at the heights both nights of our mid-week stay because the food there was soenjoyable; the quality was fantastic and at very reasonable prices. Our two mains each night came up to less than £20 between us. The atmosphere was so relaxed and comfortable as well. Highlyrecommended. Electric mountain was a lot of fun, though a little scary. It was really interesting and the staff that took us on the tour were brilliant. I would recommend going there to anyone. The slate museumI think would also be great to visit, but more in the summer time when they have demonstrations available and when it's a bit warmer. We went in the middle of our hike around the lake and were a bitwet and cold so didn't really make the most of it, however it was free entry and i would definitely go again. The hotel that we stayed in was nice enough for us. We were in an economy room and werenext to the kitchen so it was pretty noisy, if you can afford to pay more for the nicer rooms then i'm sure it's a very nice place to stay. However even in our economy room I wouldn't have expected it tobe as filthy as it was with hairs in the bath tub, layers of dust caked in the radiators and peeling wallpaper. The television must have been bought in the 80s too. The breakfast was lovely, thoughyou have to pay extra for a cooked breakfast, and the staff were really lovely too. The location of the hotel is great for walking to the main town for meals and to go to the local attractions. Thereis free wifi available but only in the restaurants and apparently in the bars but we didn't go in there, so with the signal in the area being useless for internet browsing we took our ipad down with usfor breakfast to plan our day whilst we could. Overall, i think we would probably stay there again but only if we were paying a higher rate for a nicer room; then i think i'd be more willing tocomplain about any noise that causes sleepless nights.   Collapse  Hide

Comfortable Hotel in Llandudno

Stay Date: 02/02/14, a customer aged 65+ from Northwich who stayed at 4* St Georges Hotel in Llandudno wrote this review.

To celebrate my wife's birthday we wished to spend two nights in a comfortable hotel not too far from home. The weather forecast was very bad so the standard of hotel was very important as it was See More  Read more information likely that we would not wish to go out very much. We chose the St George Hotel in Llandudno which overlooks the promenade so that we would have views of the sea even if it was too cold/wet to goout. On arrival we were fortunate enough to get one of the handful of parking spaces at the front of the hotel. (There is also a larger car park at the back but unfortunately no back door into the hotelfrom it). We were made extremely welcome at reception and by every other member of staff with whom we had contact. We had a very nice lunch in the terrace bar overlooking the sea while we waited forour room to be available. We basically spent our visit in the hotel or walking round the town or along the promenade and pier. Most tourist attractions in Llandudno are closed in February as weexpected. Dinner the first night was in the hotel restaurant again at a sea view window. The set meal was available as two or three courses and, after some deliberation, we chose two, main and dessert. It was fortunate that we did as the portions were large and we could not have eaten more. The meat (I had beef and my wife had pork) was excellent and the locally sourced vegetables were just as goodand cooked exactly right. We reported a trivial fault on the shower in our room (a crack in the bracket holding the shower head) not with the intention of getting it fixed while we were still there, but found to our amazement when we returned to the room about two hours later that it had already been dealt with. This incident tipifies the standard of service as we found it in this hotel. Thesecond evening we found an Italian restaurant nearby, The Casanova, where we had a very nice meal. We knew Llandudno well from day trips we have made in the summer and we only chose it in Februarybecause the time away in a hotel was all we wanted. I would not recommend Llandudno in February for anybody who wanted more.   Collapse  Hide

A December break in Llandudno

Stay Date: 27/12/14, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 4* St Georges Hotel in Llandudno wrote this review.

We have always been very happy with any Superbreak Breaks we have been on, this one was just as good, as far of value for money and the hotel is lovely, except sadly the small room we were allocated See More  Read more information was a front sea facing room on the 3rd floor with a high very small window which was a shame, also the bar lounge and conservatory were very cold due to the side disabled door being used and on aclosing timer, other guests thought the same and eventually the door was being kept locked and only the main front door used. The food and its presentation was excellent especially when being servedby candlelight in the warmer part of the restaurant conservatory with its lovely views of the bay and pier. Lovely Castle Stay!

Stay Date: 14/03/15, a customer aged 45-64 from Preston who stayed at 4* Ruthin Castle Hotel in Ruthin wrote this review.

From arrival and the hotel accommodating us with an early See More  Read more information check-in due to the wedding being at 2:30 p.m., to the room itself which was beyond all our imaginings, to the wedding itself - wow!! The surroundings were beautiful, the staff were so friendly and helpfuland couldn't do enough for us, and everything about the wedding from the service itself to the food, to the evening reception, flowed beautifully. Our room was just a 'standard' room but when wearrived it was big enough to accommodate a super-king size bed, plus a sofa and a tv bigger than the one at home! The walls were so thick we didn't hear a sound and everything was top quality. We willdefinitely be going to stay here again but just the two of us next time so we can experience the spa facilities as well! The hotel is also perfectly positioned, being near enough to walk into Ruthinitself which looked lovely although we didn't get to see any of it, plus it is meant to have a lot of nice pubs. Great weekend in Chester

Stay Date: 15/04/17, a customer aged 45-64 from Lincolnshire who stayed at 3* Hallmark Hotel Llyndir Hall,Chester South(2 Nts Offer & 1st Nt Dinner) in Rossett wrote this review.

My fiance and I drove to our hotel, taking a long scenic route and arriving about an hour before our dinner reservation. As we drove up to the hotel we were very impressed and felt straight away See More  Read more information that this was going to be a lovely weekend. We weren't disappointed. We were greeted by a very helpful, friendly receptionist who quickly checked us in and allocated us our room. Our room was called'Apple' and had recently been renovated. It was clean and fresh. The bathroom was beautiful with a large walk-in shower. We didn't have time to use the leisure facilities that night due to the time we hadalready booked our evening meal but we used that the following day. Our dinner, which was included in our break for that 1st night was excellent. So good, in fact, that we ate here on our 2nd night.Breakfast the following morning was also very good, with the added bonus of Easter eggs all around (it was Easter Sunday). Eggs had also been hidden around the grounds and we saw many people findingthem as we are our breakfast. Breakfasts eaten and a little egg hunt of our own completed (for the grandchildren at home obviously:) ) we set off for Chester Zoo, the entrance for which was included inour deal. We hadn't visited here before and we're very impressed with it. The lovely animals, the butterfly house and the fruit bats were all worth seeing. The weather was even kind to us, althoughthe forecast had been for showers. We had a lovely day, returned to the hotel, spent an hour in the pool and sauna, then went down for another delicious dinner. The staff were all very friendly andhelpful. The following morning, after another good night's sleep, was unfortunately raining so after breakfast we headed towards home. We were both very impressed with the hotel and will most likelyreturn.   Collapse  Hide

Great Break In North Wales, Hotel Could Do Better
