What to do on New Year’s Eve in the capital
Date Posted: 28/12/12
People booking short breaks to London for New Year’s Eve may be overwhelmed by all the things they can do to party the night away.
Whatever you do, you should not miss the world famous New Year’s Eve fireworks display at the EDF Energy London Eye, which has designated viewing areas along the River Thames, but should be able to be seen from many locations across London.
Dining on New Year’s Eve is always popular as well, with restaurants across the capital providing many options on the big night. Almeida in Islington is one great place to go, as it offers a five course meal for a reasonable £45.
For the younger generations, New Year’s Eve is all about partying the night way to some of the best DJs in the country. The O2 Academy in Islington is hosting a great cheese and classic indie night, while the O2 Academy in Brixton will be pumping some of the best drum and bass from the likes of Chase and Status and DJ Fresh.
Remember that travel is free on London’s bus, underground, tram and DLR networks from 23:45 to 04:30 GMT.
