Visit Zagreb for its fantastic museums
Date Posted: 17/08/12

Zagreb in Croatia has a wealth of amazing museums that make short breaks to the city an absolute must.
Damjan Beasan, a freelance tour guide for the Croatian National Tourist Board, explained that if travellers are interested in contemporary art, they can visit the MSU, which is a modern art museum in Novi Zagreb, a new part of the city.
The building itself is a work of art, having been constructed in the form of a Greek Meander, and exhibitions include Written in Water, Great World Enigma, Art as Life and Project and Destiny.
However, perhaps the most original museum in Zagreb is the Museum of Broken Relationships. It is a recent addition to the city and looks at failed love, including exhibits of objects left behind by former partners as well as giving visitors the opportunity to leave their own relationship confessions.
There are three classic, traditional museums in Zagreb: Strossmayer Gallery of Old Masters, a fine museum, Mimara, a painting collection and Zagreb City Museum, which is more of a historical attraction.
