Virtuoso guitarist Ralph McTell announces 2012 dates
Date Posted: 08/05/12
One of the greatest musical storytellers Ralph McTell is heading out on a 23-date UK tour this autumn to celebrate 40-years on the road.
It kicks off on Thursday, October 4th at Runcorn's Bridley Arts Centre before heading to every corner of the UK, including Langholm, Scunthorpe, Sheffield, Congleton and Tavistock.
Fans can book London hotels for Saturday, December 8th in order to catch McTell at Cadogan Hall on the last date of the tour.
The 67-year-old Farnborough native began his career in the mid-1960s hitch-hiking around Europe with an acoustic guitar, emulating his American folk hero Woody Guthrie.
He became popular towards the end of the decade due to his song Streets of London, which has since been covered by more than 200 artists, including Cliff Richard and Sinead O'Connor.
The song contrasts the everyday problems of ordinary people with the plight of the marginalised members of society such as the homeless and the elderly.
