Vikings Exhibition Planned for London
Date Posted: 25/10/13
A Vikings exhibition is set to kick off at the British Museum next spring and will be themed around a timeframe between the late 8th and early 11th centuries.
The museum is working alongside the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and National Museum of Denmark in the development of this new show, which is called Vikings: Life and legend.
The event will include timbers from a Viking warship called Roskilde 6 which haven't been displayed in the UK up to now. Meanwhile, all of the Vale of York Hoard - a collection of coins, hack silver, bullion and arm rings - is set to be displayed, too.
Kicking off March 6th next year, the show will be in place at the Sainsbury Exhibition Gallery in the museum until June 22nd.
"New discoveries and research have led to a wealth of new information about the Vikings so it is a perfect moment to look again at this critical era," commented the British Museum's director, Neil MacGregor.
London hotels could offer fantastic accommodation facilities to anyone wishing to learn about the Vikings at this upcoming event.
