UK Rises up Global Tourism Ladder
Date Posted: 15/04/13
Anyone planning a visit to the UK in the near future will be pleased to hear that the country has risen up the global tourism rankings, overtaking the US to reach fifth position in the table.
Based on a study by the World Economic Forum (WEF), which assesses each nation's tourism industry and facilities, the UK is now ranked ahead of countries such as Canada, Sweden and France, moving up two positions since the last report in 2011.
This is a testament to the many world-class hotels, amenities and attractions that Britain has to offer, with the report singling the country out for its "excellent cultural resources" and numerous UNESCO World Heritage sites.
As such, the news will be welcomed by travellers interested in weekend breaks around the UK, with the WEF also praising Britain for its ability to host top-quality international fairs and events, as highlighted by last year's Diamond Jubilee celebrations and Olympic Games.
