Sun and City Breaks Proving Popular This Easter
Date Posted: 28/03/13
Thousands of Brits are expected to travel abroad or to other destinations in the UK over the coming days as the Easter getaway begins.
According to travel association ABTA, 1.7 million British holidaymakers are set to head overseas for the Easter weekend of March 29th to April 1st, while many more will be taking a break within the UK.
A great deal of those travelling abroad will be looking to escape the gloomy weather with sunny destinations such as the Canary and Balearic Islands proving popular.
However, city breaks are also in demand, according to ABTA, with locations such as Paris, Amsterdam and Rome among the most sought-after.
Similarly, city breaks within the UK are showing healthy demand, said the travel association.
"Bookings for city breaks have been strong for domestic holidaymakers," said Mark Tanzer, ABTA chief executive.
"We expect it to be a particularly busy Easter for travel and advise travellers to allow plenty of time for their journeys."
