Step Back in Time at Blenheim Palace
Date Posted: 30/06/14
If your kids love all things medieval and want to have a flavour of what life was like when knights ruled the roost, head over to Blenheim Palace on a weekend break at the beginning of August.
From Friday August 1st to Sunday August 3rd, the grounds of Blenheim Palace will be filled with knights in all their finery, with a series of jousting matches set to take place to recreate the glory days of old.
Although the jousting is likely to be one of the most spectacular scenes, there is plenty more going on to keep parents and kids alike entertained. Falconry displays, a puppet theatre show and a series of food stalls serving up historically-themed treats are among the other highlights.
In addition to the jousting contests, there will also be sword fighting and entire plays where knights have to rescue princesses from perilous situations.
Of course, Blenheim Palace is a wonderful attraction no matter when you visit, as it is home to opulent state rooms, incredible tapestries and a vast exhibition of porcelain pieces. The grounds, meanwhile, cover more than 2,000 acres and feature formal gardens as well as parkland.
