Start planning Valentine's Day in London
Date Posted: 23/08/14
We're well into January now and, if you're planning to do something special for Valentine's Day, it's time to get your skates on if you haven't already sorted out your plans. It's either that or risk disappointing your significant other like last year, and we don't want that, do we?
So what are your best options for February 14th? We've got a list below that should provide some inspiration.
Valentine's Day Cooking for Two Course
Cooking has plenty of romantic connotations as an activity. After all, there's nothing more sensual than doing the washing up together, is there? Similarly, it has long been acknowledged that the quickest way to a man's heart is through his stomach (left at the esophagus, you can't miss it). In the spirit of Valentine's Day, Billingsgate Seafood School is offering cookery classes for two that will allow you to create the perfect romantic meal for two. Will sparks be flying in the kitchen? This event takes place on February 14th.
Valentine's Calligraphy Workshop
Regent Street's Liberty promises couples two things. Firstly, a good way to while away a couple of hours together. And secondly, a handmade gift that they can each give to the other, created using their own fair hands and the latest in craft and calligraphy techniques. Hosted by Betty Etiquette on February 7th, it's the perfect way to say 'I love you'.
Check out some chocolate
London's chocolate scene is extraordinary during Valentine's Day, with the chocolatiers crafting their finest treats in an effort to impress men and women alike. From purist-pleasing darks to milk-chocolatey perfection, you'll find everything cacao in the capital city. There are many spots to try out - why not secure a box of the finest truffles at Artisan du Chocolat? Or go all-out bonkers at Choccywoccydoodah where extravagant recipes are the name of the game? Traditionalists will find what they're looking for at Melt and Mélange - both good names to look up if you're struggling with a selection.
Make sure you book the restaurant
For goodness sake, don't forget to book a restaurant. London's fine eating scene is going to be heaving during the Valentine's weekend as couples splash out on a nice meal to celebrate being together. The Spanish know a little about love and it's great to get some conversation over some tapas, so why not consider Jamon Jamon in Seven Dials? The intimate tables in dark corners are perfect for a little footsy match between couples. For an assured menu and excellent dining experience, consider The Delaunay in Aldwych.
Finish at the theatre
A theatrical end to the evening in more ways than one, London's West End is classy, entertaining and enormous fun. Book to see any one of the great shows on at the moment - Wicked, Billy Elliot, Once, Les Miserables, they're all jaw-dropping so why not finish your Valentine's Day with your partner on a high note?
