Star-studded writers to bring 9/11 production Decade to London
Date Posted: 20/07/11
A number of top writers have come together to help bring a 9/11 legacy production to London later this year.
Decade, starring Tobias Menzies, Lia Williams and Charlotte Randle will play in front of those booking London theatre breaks when it opens at St Katherine Docks on Thursday September 1st.
Among the authors taking part are Christopher Shinn, Lynn Nottage, Abi Morgan and Simon Schama.
The play looks at how the world responded to the shocking scenes ten years ago when the Twin Towers in New York were attacked, killing thousands of people and signalling a new war on terror.
A disused building in St Katherine Docks will be home to the production, having previously been the venue of London's World Trade Centre.
It will be directed by Rupert Goold and comes from the same theatre company which brought Enron to the stage.
Among his other credits, Goold has worked on productions such as Macbeth at Chichester Festival theatre, King Lear at the Young Vic and Earthquakes in London at the Cottesloe theatre.
